Canaryrx8, your right, drifting is a great skill, and drifting around a racetrack is always needed depending on the turn. In fact, ive raced for almost 10 years now.
I always get in this argument because I think it is lame that people would rather go to some drift wars ballet show, then go to the local track and see guys push a car to the limits around a race track. There not there to show off, they are there because they love competition, that is what racing is about. Drifting will be gone in 5 years too.

They said the same thing about import drag racing.

PS- Just in case anyone here is lacking in the brain area, import drag is more popular than ever.

kart you have yet to see drifting in its full form. in 5 years youll still be all puckered up when the drift_off comes to town:D and dont get me wrong.....i love to race...autoX....raod courses...all that..even kart. and i can hold my own in all three......but being able to do something in my 8 that you cant or wont even try is what i live for.......i guess its just a drift thing

drifting has been around since the earliest days of auto racing, I seriously doubt it will be gone in 5 years, that would mean that racing is gone in 5 years and boy would that suck.

I'm with mspeed11. I love drifting. It's a wonderful driving technique. I think of it as a mix of art and science. Tsuchiya was a master of the craft. Drifting is here to stay.

im not saying theres a preoblem with "drifting" the actual driving technique, i just cant stand all the hype about it. Cars have been drifting for over 50 years, why does the import crowd have to clain it like its theirs?? All im saying is, all the civic guys and so on, are now loving all the silvias, and "JDM" stuff because they drift and are RWD. Where were they 10 years ago??? i guess im really against the mentality of the whole thing, but oh well, people can like whatever they want, I personally hate Nascar....and Earnhart Jr.....but that doesnt stop millions of people.

im glad all the civic boys are now actualy into cars that can do something!!!! its great for the "sport" ewwwwwww i called it a sport. and drifting is theirs!!!!!!!!! the word drift came out of the kings own mouth in the late 80s after he finished the last few laps of a ae86 race in last place and putting on a show for the fans at the same time. what do you call what you where doing out there??????_______:D

thats me!! :D You can drift in an Auto, it is just very difficult because you have to use certain techniques, In an RX8 auto i have not tried or seen yet but i am sure it is possible. My car is a manuel tranny.

well there are a few ways to learn IMO, 1. join scca and participate in events and auto-x's ( practice, practice, practice - best choice- ) 2. watch best motoring "drift bible" over and over till your eyes bleed.

The RX-8 was not meant to drive straight...your confusing it with muscle cars . The RX-8 was meant to handle great on a race track and be able to take out cars twice its price and output.
