For the sake of accuracy, It should also be noted that Jason and I were on pretty worn SPT's. I think new SPT's would have done much better.
If I remember right, your tires were worn down too, werent they Chike?

For the sake of accuracy I discovered that both my rear camber adjusters had come loose after the Finale. Had it aligned just before heading out to the KC Tour and then on to the Finale/Nats so that likely explains why the car was so weird all the way through that point. Had to string align it in the garage for practice/Nats. Can't say if it would have made any difference or not, but since Carter and I were the only two cars on Hoosiers Wets we'll never really know. I was also running the taller 255/40 to help keep from over-goosing it out of the turns, seem to recall having the best wet 60 ft times. Had they not shut down the event right when we were going out and it started raining buckets it probably would have been a much bigger difference than it drying out later.

Well Day 1 was interesting. All run groups were dry but heats 1 & 2 dealt with cooler temps( 60's) and foggy conditions devoid of all sunshine. Heats 3-5 had warmer temps (mid 70's) with plenty of sun.
My co-driver is leading the class with a 49.9 run ~0.1 second ahead of Ruggles and Fossum. I'm just a hair under 1 second back and in last place (8th). Talk about tight competition...
Best way to describe the course was "speed maintenance" with some of the elements (like the "bus stop") favoring narrow cars. STU ran the same Heat as BS (Heat 2) and I'm beating the leader (Ridgick) in RAW and PAX.
Looking forward to Sunday...

The Dixie Tour looks like a good number of classes are pretty undersubscribed, which I would attribute to the economy.

Looks like Mr. Ruggles threw it down today...

Other impressive drives: Strano in FS...awesome. Braun in SS. Carpenter in ES. King in STS.
I don't care if I don't have any tires, reading this stuff makes me feel like just saying "screw work" and going down to SD next weekend....

Congrats to Jason,Shawn and Jim F. for making it a 123 finish for the RX8'S. Nice times too on the cool heat 2 track. As I recall BS ran first heat last year...we should get the warm afternoon track next year.
Sorry Carter,Fred and I couldn't make it.Carter's wife was not feeling well on Friday ( second son delivered just two weeks ago) so we did the wise thing and stayed at home.

+1 Congrats!
The event was a blast. Very tight competition, and big congrats to Ruggles who laid down some scorchers on Sunday!
P.S. Huge congrats to a fellow BS guy, Neal Tovsen, who came back from a 1 second deficit on Saturday, to take the win in FSP over Jinx, Barbry and Zimmer.

PAX results are up: http://sccaforums.com/forums/storage...-RTP.Final.pdf
Ruggles was 20th overall so he represented BS well especially considering the cooler conditions Heats 1&2 dealt with. Great job buddy!

Congrats to all the BS drivers! Jason looked especially strong on Sunday. If only he knew how to change numbers on the car
I wish I could say I adapted to my new car as well as Jason did. Snap oversteer is a new phenomenon for me! After getting the CR backwards on my first run, I drove scared the rest of Saturday. Sunday I drove much better, beating several people who were ahead of me on Saturday, but not well enough to move into the trophies.
Kudos to my co-driver Marc Pfannenschmidt, who managed to trophy with only one clean run!

I'm late to the party but I'll chime in to say I had fun despite my lack luster driving this past weekend. For reference, the car is still pretty much prepped for BS with the exception of the Hotchkis MX-5 bars front and rear, Weds 17x9's and the worn out 245 RE01Rs we had laying around the shop (2 years old, zero tread on the inside, 4-6 trackdays on them). Oh, the alignment was last checked before the 08 Atlanta Tour, about 15,000 miles ago.
Friday's test-n-tune went good, 25.1-25.2 consistently until the tires got hot and car wanted to really oversteer on corner exit, (more on that later), but Saturday I forgot how to drive fast and putted around the course to a 54 something. Sunday I had nothing to win so I went in with a Ricky Bobby attitude and either coned or DNF'd. 1st run went good other than I forgot to look ahead at the bus stop and the turn around, I was too late on the brake pedal and pushed my way through both of those elements. I got one cone exiting the bus-stop and ended up with a 51.0. My second run was pretty fast, 49.4 IIRC but I clipped 6 cones I carried too much speed out of the first big lefthander and just barely clipped the last 2 cones of the outside wall with the rear tire. I then proceeded to to get too far ahead in the slaloms and clipped the back side of 4 slalom cones. I knew I was driving harder than I was Saturday and thus I was turning in a little sooner with the hopes that I would just barely push past them, no such luck.
I figured out that I wasn't carrying too much speed through the slaloms and the car won't push past them so on my third run I fix the first big left hander and clear the cones in the wall and proceed to get a miracle cone on the bus-stop, (clipped the inside cone, flipped through the air, landed in the box). I rip through the slaloms after the bus-stop, get the turn around right, rip through the big slalom and get set up for the uphill right hander that I had been breathing off the gas for previously. At this point I think I have a cone and decide to see if I can make it without lifting. A full throttle blast from the exit of the 75ft spaced slalom...I almost made it. The car turned in great and made the turn. I was lined up great coming out of the corner leading into the light braking zone for about 0.002 sec. At that moment the corner exit oversteer came back. The car slipped sideways a little and slingshotted back the other way pushing me off course. Perhaps a shot with the tire sprayer, some rear toe-in, or new 255 RE-11's would have allowed me to make that turn without lifting... or maybe not .
Either way I had fun and I am really exicited to see what the car can do with some better tires, suspension and more power. STX class killer - definitely not, competive in full trim - I think so.
It was great to finally meet you Chiketd and hopefully we'll see each other at more events this year.
