It was this or Milwaukee, and we opted to do Milwaukee because of the better competition. I also have family there, so it made sense.

Plus, the car isn't ready... we don't have tires, the suspension is not on and we don't have a trailer yet.

Interesting thread....

Death by transition was the name of the game. That was the only element used in that course. It really rewarded heroics as opposed to a choice in driving line of which there was not another one available. Brakes were very optional for lower HP cars and if the GS Mini's were not in the 1st heat...you can guess.

With all the available room and decent grip the length and course design was at best a "C". It was very difficult for the non stock type cars as the width of the offsets was very tight.

Great battle in B Stock and a Co driver was needed to win. Fun to watch. Good weather except the brief rainshower that caught 3rd runs in heat 4. I would certainly go back but the courses need to be addressed,albeit we were done very early both days and on the road by 4:00.

The sad part is that they ran virtually the identical Saturday course in December at the Dixie region Axis-Allies event. It was short THEN IN THE RAIN:

And it was less wet when Jon Krolewicz and Tom Austin ran, but still wet enough that I told Ian Stewart that based on Tom's PAX winning time, that he was going to run a 35 second time and he ended up with a 36. I was waiting for a protest for running the same course giving some folks an advantage. It was slightly different, but not much.

I'm still somewhat baffled because I was a full 10 seconds faster in the dry (C.J. only 6.6 sec) and don't consider myself to be a poor rain driver. Meredith in the STi was also 10 seconds faster in the dry. But we ran when the rain was hardest at Axis-Allies.

They did send the course off for Roger Johnson to look at, and the National office approved the course using some sort of computer program. I still hope they make a greater effort at more sweepers next year.

Point is that my car seemed to stick a whole lot better with lots of rubber on the ground in the brief rain on my third run on Sunday, than it did in first heat in pouring rain at Axis-Allies.

So if baggy is fortunate enough to get rain on day 2 when there is rubber down, his chances against the STU STis are substantially better.

Not saying the courses were identical, but they were alarmingly similar. The gates were actually a bit wider at the NT which made the initial Saturday offsets/straight more of a straight.
