SCCA Natl Tour SD
Well that first prosolo win for the RX8 I picked up in Fontana last week was a gift. As Bauer was flying in the 968 at the tour. Ron was dailed in and left me scratching my head some .7 back in 2nd place after Sat. The real good news came when he was able to find a set of front Kumho V710s that he could get mounted up to run on sun. Actually had he not gotten lame directions to the tire store he might have been back in time for Annie to get all her sat runs in instead of just the last one.
On Sun I got things a little more dialed in, with my flu almost gone and a few more runs in the new car I was able to stay right with him. Ron with a 48.4 and me at a 48.5, so there is hope for the car... Come on KONI where are those shocks.
The ladies class looks even more brutle than the mens, with each of the women at one time posting fast time for the class. Annie in her 968 was getting use to her new V710s as was Barbara in the other RX8..... In the end on what was supposed to be our first kids Bday, man will this thing ever come out, My wife Jennifer got the first Natl Tour win for the RX8 taking BSL by .4 over Barbara.
Also got to meet east coast forum member Keith Casey, I think he is on meds, that dude is was to happy. lol Very cool guy, we will be watching him work the east coats.
p.s. Way to go Stephen, got the girls by .1 for the weekend, you D man. :p

Ride Naked!
So do you think Ron has more speed in him or has he reached his limits in the 968?
Seriously, great job! Are you going to be at the Seattle (Packwood?) tour? It would be great to see the master in action.

Nice job, Jason. These are encouraging results.

I can say that Jason & Jennifer were absolutely flying. Their car was HOOKED UP. Marvelous job! Did make me miss my RX8.
Yes, there's definitely more time in the 968, at least for me. Ron is great about jumping into a car and immediately driving to near its limits, while I am not. We had the car set up for our Koosier combo, with all Kumhos now it'll take some testing & tuning to get the shocks & swaybars set where it will optimize the car... Luckily the Seattle weather has been great (better than SoCal!) so we hope to get some testing done prior to Atwater.
Anyway, should be a good battle this year!

I think there's still a lot of time to be had in both cars; the RX-8 as shocks become available, and the 968 as we figure out what all the ***** and dials do. And we haven't yet seen concrete. We won't know which is faster until Topeka, if even then.

I have some pics of the cars in grid, and maybe one or two of the cars out on course.
Just got home... I'll get them up tomorrow.
Nice meeting you.... at least until Nationals.

clyde, what did your "trackday junkie that has never done an autocross, never seen an autocross but thinks that autocross driving requires no skill and autocross drivers are unable to become skilled" codriver think of his first exposure to national-level autocross? Looks like the two of you had a close battle, but that you eventually managed to squeak by him by just 14.4 seconds. :p

But he took it all in stride. I liked how he responded to questions/comments from people that approached him all weekend, though:
I must have been asked that question like a thousand times about why I was even there when I was clearly Dead F'n Last by a pretty large margin. To which I replied, because I shot off my big mouth online.

Well, I have way more respect for people who actually show up and put their money where their mouth is than for those who instigate online yet are somehow full of excuses when they're called on it. Kudos to your codriver for coming out, and for being a good sport when he received the inevitable beatdown. :p

Not often that you can come in 11.1 seconds behind the class leader and still declare victory. :D

Thanks Clyde, funny stuff. Was hoping to see him shooting his mouth off about how easy autox is though and then getting called out, if it's easy to find post a link, if not no biggie.
Sorry for the hijacking :p
KC, how did you do, I scanned the rankings but didn't see you listed, couldn't remember what class you were running in...

The car owner and myself finished solidly in the middle of DSP codriving a '92 BMW.
It was a minor victory in and of itself... we were 1st/2nd of cars NOT running V710s. (On Victoracers) :D

I have larger images if anyone wants them.
