Brembo BBK questions -- weight and wheel fitment

Two questions about the Brembo BBK:

1. Anyone measured weight savings vs. stock?
2. Does anyone run this kit under 17" wheels?

Just trying to plan an upgrade path. Any feedback would be appreciated!

EDIT: Answer found! Weights in post #12.

Racing Brake is where it's at.

I mean yeah, that's an option, too. Trying to collect the facts first. :]

Well... unless you've added a turbocharger or something and you're putting out crazy power you really don't need to upgrade your brakes. With the proper racing brake pads and good fluid they'll NEVER fade even under the harshest racing conditions. In regards to weight savings... I dunno.

I know there's no need, fade-wise. Happy to get into my reasoning in another thread, if people care. Just looking for help with some numbers here.

from my understanding, you're going to need at least 18s to fit. I run the 17" Enkei 17x9s with the stock calipers and rotors... and it BARELY fits with the stock brakes...

You sure?

Isn't the Brembo BBK a 328mm size? Maybe I read incorrectly, but I remember reading that 328 mm Brembo BBKs for other cars are okay with some 17" rims.

Also, that's only 5 mm bigger in diameter from the stock rotor. I feel like the Brembo caliper would have to be huge to cause a significant difference in wheel clearance.

I run 17s in the winter and I have... not a lot of clearance, but it didn't seem super tight over the stock brakes IIRC. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly...

I don't have enough clearance with my 17s to put stick-on wheel weights in the normal position FWIW with the stock calipers. I can give it a shot next time I'm on the track with an 8 with a BBK.

Oh wow. Gotta be a wheel-specific thing, then. Either way, definitely sounds like 18"+ would be best.

possibly. The wheels are Enkei RPF1, 17x9 +45 if that helps or matters.

Well for what it's worth, RacingBrake singles out 17" RPF1s as wheels that won't clear their BBK. I assume that means RPF1s are tighter than most.

Got an answer on weights from Jerry at Race Technologies. Thanks, Jerry!

Calipers: 5.67 lbs each
Pads: 2.28 lbs per pair

Slotted Rotors: 11.5 lbs each
Cross-Drilled Rotors: 11.1 lbs each

If this thread is accurate, that means the calipers with pads are 5 lbs lighter than stock, and the rotors are 7+ lbs lighter than stock.

The rotors are also 3+ lbs lighter than the RacingBrake 2-piece rotors, despite being 6 mm bigger in diameter and 3 mm thicker.

Regarding wheel fitment, looks like I'll have to print out their template (link - PDF). Not sure when I can get around to trying that out, but I'll post up if I see anything interesting.
