I hope you're not doing R3 wheels for the track... that's a waste of $$! Drive what you have and upgrade slowly. your consumables will eat through your budget faster than you think...

you dont recommend the R3 wheels for track use? I thought they are lighter or same weight as the S1 18x8? I'm also looking for new wheels to add for drift use. I really like the look of the R3 and maybe BBS SR.

if you're using them for track use, save the $$ and buy a set of 17x9s. You'll spend a lot less on tires, and save substantial weight in the wheels. The stock R3 wheels aren't the lightest by a wide margin, and buy 19" tires to track is a budget killer - unless money is not an option - in which case, you should get something wider than the 19x8 R3 stockers =)

the price is good for the R3 wheels if they're in good condition - i've seen them go for $1400+.

But for $800, you could probably get a set of Enkei RPF1s in a 17x9 which will be lighter, and have a lot of tire options that start at $150/corner as opposed to 19s, where you're looking at $200+ per corner for tires - not to mention you'll be able to run wider tires on a 17x9 wheel compared to a 19x8 wheel. It'll also be easier to replace a single wheel if you get a more common wheel...

Everything depends on your budget for what you like to use and look at, I suppose!

Yeah.. 800 is a ridiculously good deal!! Then again, like pcs said, they're prob not the best option for track/drifting.

R3 wheels weigh a TON and aren't good for the track. I sold mine and run Enkei RPF1's. 17x9's..

As an example of how much more tread you can have and with less rotational mass.

R3 wheels and tires on the left. Enkei RPF1's and tires on the right.

However if you're drifting.. then this might be too much tire for you. If you got them for $800 then you got a great deal and you get to use a smaller tire.

I purchased them but need to get them repainted/refinished - getting quoted $500 for all 4 wheels but only 1 wheel really needs to be refinished. Having seconds thoughts now, might just sell them now.

If not, I'll probably use them for street and drifting and switch to my stock 18's for track days.
