always best to ask the question because PPG is not slippery like PEG

NPG coolant is acceptable by most racing sanctions where stipulated

So, fitted the mazmart water pump and thermostat. The car did run cooler how ever it got back up to 110c. I have removed the air con and condenser. I'm thinking the radiator may be ****. It is upgraded, I might try another brand

What about the blocking of the sides of the radiator? that and the AWR radiator matched with the water pump and tstat and you should have no issues.

Do you have to remove the gas to take off the condenser? or is that separate.

Just purchased the AWR rad.

Shipping to OZ was as about $1300 total ($650 for rad) through AWR but going through Price USA and expecting it to be under $900, Just in case anyone was considering it over here but was not keen on $600 + shipping.

If one walked to do the dual radiators then how would the piping and secondary thermostat be placed?

Arca ex, how is the CSF radiator holding up for you, have you run on the track with it? Any body with any more info on the CSF?
My buddy and i bought the csf radiator, he installed his a month ago, everything went great. Radiator looks like awesome quality and bolted right up. He is at hallett raceway today its about 90 degrees ambient temp. He texted me saying he stopped because his temps were climbing to 240's. Besides the radiator he has the misimoto thermostat and the remedy water pump, which were all installed at the same time, about a month ago. No fan mods. He is doing 15 minutes high speed touring sessions. I'm wondering if its normal for the car to be getting to those temps with these mods? I'm sure we will be installing the rx8performance cooling fan mod here in the next couple weeks as he told me he purchased it. Should we be worried that there is an issue or will the car overheat when pushed really hard on hot days on the track?

The fan only runs at very low vehicle speed or when stopped. It's not a factor in the issue.

Ok looks like i finally found the right place to ask some questions. After researching on the forum my friend and I decided to make some upgrades to our cooling system mainly because we have started road racing our 8's and we want to prevent any overheating situations. From my understanding our cars are prone to this when driven hard.
We are tracking our cars at Hallett raceway in Oklahoma and are participating in high speed touring events that consist of 15min heats in Oklahoma weather. Oh and our cars are daily driven.
My plans to upgrade so far consist of:
CSF dual core radiator
Mazmart re-medy thermostat and water pump
Cooling fan mod, to turn fans on at lower temps
Silicone hoses and of course proper coolant.
We will be leaving the air condenser in place.
Given these mods, with our 15min sessions and considering ambient temps of 90-100 degrees F, should we still continue to have cooling issues? Or should we expect other issues if our coolant temps are running 240 F at the track?
My buddy has all these mods expect the cooling fan mod, which should not make much issue at the track and was running 240 coolant temps today with 90 degree ambient temperature.

240 is too hot....You need to make sure you are forcing all the air through the rad...

Check to see what your oil temps are...it will help to increase the oil cooling capacity

You should be able to get the temps to below 225...if you can't you need to look at why

Why doesn't you or your friend start a thread instead of cross posting and bumping a bunch of threads asking the same information. All of the info you seek is here already.

Stock radiator is very good if you have the twin oil coolers. I have run my car at the track at similar or higher temps without any issues.

If you upgrade to an aftermarket radiator it can sometimes be a backward step if it is an inferior design.

There are better radiators on the market so research carefully before you upgrade.

So it is a possibility that the CSF radiator is a step backwards for our application...ok i was wondering if that was a possibility.

Sorry for bumping multiple threads. I will stop here...did not realize there was a specific racing thread dedicated to larger radiator installs.

I suspect that a number of racers here will pipe up and challenge your comments regarding the OE radiator

Likely the coolant isn't flowing fast enough through the system. Check the thermostat fully opens in a pot of boiling water, swap pump back to OE, swap radiator back to OE. One of these will probably identify the cause of the overheating issue.

I've run at Hallett (and will be there in a few weeks). I run at 195-200F with stock radiator with a few caveats: only distilled water, MazMart pump, low temp thermostat, and ducting to force all air through the radiator (most of it escapes between the plastic undertray and the radiator)

With summer coming he could do an 80/20 mix then go back to something like 50/50 for winter
