Why would you take the thermostat out in the first place? It doesn't do anything to help with cooling and in a lot of vehicles actually causes an overheating issue because it is used as a point of restriction to force coolant through other routes that would otherwise see very little flow if not for the restriction the thermostat provides.

Yup. I use Mazmart's lower temp thermostat. I'm not worried about cold weather in TX tracks.

Leave the cool thermostat in and put a piece of cardboard or aluminum sheet (painted black) over 1/2 of the radiator for street use. Then pull it off for track. Maybe some velcro strips for easy on/off
