Autocross w/Warranty

Hi this is my first time in this section of the forums because I've never done any racing before. I had planned on competing in a local auto-x event and was wondering if this will void my current warranty on my car? I'm sure someone has been through this before me so i'm hoping you guys we'll answer. Just encase this has been asked and for some reason i didn't see it, i have tried searching it but the only results that are returned are that of good/bad dealership experiences. Even if Auto-X would void the warranty is there any way for the dealerships to find out, short of my car breaking at the event?

Seriously, there is a minimal risk of having a warranty item refused because of using the car for autocross, but Mazda is one of the better manufacturers in this area...

When you register, register with a different year (change colors too). So if you have an 04, pick 08. Then if dealers have a problem with it, tell them you codrive your friends car

At least Mazda doesn't check your ECU for standing starts and top 5 RPM's every time you take the car in for warranty and then void it.........

I autocrossed the crap out of my 8 with springs/konis on it and the dealer never gave me any trouble.

busted me

it always depends on the dealer, some don't care, others look for any excuse to bounce you into a forced payment scenario

The SCCA has a long, well established set of case history to back you up, unless you do something utterly and obviously stupid, like run it out of oil or something.

You will notice that nowhere on the official SCCA stuff does it talk about autocross as racing. It's a "precision driving event". You aren't on a race track, you aren't competing against other cars (just yourself and the clock, see?), and it's a contest of driving precision. You could walk right into the dealer with the shoe polish right on your windshield and an SCCA hat and be just fine.

Go for it!

Most insurance companies don't cover a timed event.
