The Zs are looking good thus far with Carter Thompson leading the pack in BS. The highest RX-8 is 5th and the 350Z has 3 of the top 4 spots... Where the hell did that Camaro come from Jeff Cashmore whooping up in ES as usual, and I guess that answers my question on if he's sticking with the MR2

No Camaro, Sam is on a MR2 turbo, results just have the wrong car listed. So far things not looking good for the 8 on the east cost. Maybe at the Pro next weekend KC or Cylde will get it together.

Did EVO school phase three and challenge school this weekend.

I know what I *need* to know. Implementing it is another question. :D

Daddio and Rob Faulkner for Phase three... and Tim Aro and Daddio again for the challenge school. All on stock car, stock camber, stock tires. Everything changes for this upcoming weekend.

Seat time ++. Fixing bad habits ++. Couldn't have had it at a better time. (75 today... back into the 40s for opening day tomorrow) GO SOX!

Next weekend will be quite a bit of fun! :D

Final Results have been posted:

http://www.scca.org/_Filelibrary/Fil...tlanta-sun.pdf

Carter
Sam (.273 back)
Andy (.007 behind Sam)
Chris (.215 behind Andy)

Then just out of trophies was John P Vitamvas .626 behind Chris in the 1st 8 with Jeremy right behind him.

AS looks like Spec S2000 again. :D Just a little out of place with an EVO sitting in the middle of the times.

Wow; being a relative newbie at autox, I'm surprised to see practically all the cars in A Stock be S2000s, when there are some other fine cars which qualify A Stock. Why are there no Corvettes, for instance?

There usually are and will be at future events, Atlanta was just an odd turnout, though the AS results sure do look a hell of a lot like BS used to like KC pointed out.

There are big variations between regions in which cars are popular. For comparison's sake, there were twice as many Corvettes in AS at the San Diego Tour as there were S2000s. Makes things interesting as September and the Pick the Winners draw near, and people who were unbeatable on the West Coast meet people who were unbeatable on the East Coast, and, well, people get beat.

As an aside, this is a good reason to go to Nationals -- it's the only event in the year when you'll see every single class well represented by the full variety of competitive cars.

Clyde won't be at the Pro and wishes kC luck.

Clyde needs to string two good days together.

Carter was out in front by a good bit, but the spread of times of the 2-5 place cars was really tight both days. On Saturday, I was only .021 behind Chris, another 0.1 behind Andy and only about 0.25 behind Sammy. Honestly, that I was that close to him in time and not all that much further back from Carter (among other things) screwed with my head and I couldn't drive for sh:t on Sunday. JV was the other way this weekend. He forgot to turn off DSC for his first run and couldn't get past it for his second and third runs. We got him motivated Saturday night and he was right there on Sunday.

Frankly, JV are decent autocrossers, but we're not in the same realm as some others. If you factor our skill and experience (or lack thereof) into it, things really get interesting.

It was a fun event, but a little scary when an E36 in DSP lost a wheel in the bumpy section near the ticket booth this morning (which happened to be where I was working at the time).

Thanks, Steve. Nationals would be fun to watch.

I saw your car at Doug's today. What's up? Getting a hitch?

Somewhat, but it usually turns out that several classes are dominated by one car and then a few guys that know they're not going to win show up in other cars
Though I don't think that will be the case with AS this year and it'll be one of the more popular and diversified classes.

True statement.

Can't even play the lack of sleep card (awake Thursday 5:20 AM until Friday night at 9PM) as I got a lot of sleep Friday. :p My head just wasn't in it after the DSC run. I tried to pull off a hero run for my third and just didn't get it done.

I was still 0.2 off the fastest BS time on Sunday and I left at least .8-.9 out there. Frustrating, but a good learning experience, and being my first event of the year in the car with dry conditions (and third event in it ever) I don't know what I should have expected.

The car can definitely run with those boys - being as close as we were with us driving says a lot about the car.

Already looking forward to Toledo...

JV

PS Flanagan's car was in bad shape. Fortunately someone had a BFH and they got the wheel back on and the car was slowly driven off course. Lesson learned, I hope.

Hitch? :p

We found that we can pack two people, four tires and the most likely to be needed gear we need into the car and still have a realtively comfy drive. Just need to makes some custom pillows to fit in the rotary shaped holes in the seats for napping in the car once it's unloaded. Oh, and prayers for no rain. :o

I was thinking about it some today. If the courses had been run in the opposite order and the wheel came off in the same spot, it would have been headed for spectators. In that same section, when running the other way on Saturday, that E36 was getting both rear wheels into the air. Sunday, on it's previous runs, at the end of the sweeper it was entering when the wheel came off it was going up on the two outside wheels. Looked like compression was really soft and rebound really stiff. The wheels would get jacked up into the wheelwells leaving no suspension travel left to deal with the next impact.
