2010 C-Stock Roll Call
2010 C-Stock Roll Call
I am curious with all of the STX discussion, how many people plan to actually continue to compete in C-stock next year ? I am still undecided as our season in the midwest doesn't get underway until April/May. The primary consideration for me is playing in a class that has good depth of competition. It appears a lot of Solstice and Miata drivers are also considering a class change, so I fear the numbers may be very slim on the National level in 2010.
Anyone heard any good rumors of additional 370z's and Boxster's coming out to play in 2010 ?

There was a novice 370z Nismo at one of the Porsche club schools out here but I still have yet to see one at an SCCA or BSCC event. I was pretty jealous when I got a ride, even though his driving was garbage
The power difference is incredible, but the Nismo is 350hp. I've heard there's been a 370z kicking around in some of the Northeast clubs doing some ridiculous times for what is now a CS car though, cue Zelse?
We only had 1 BS 8 that I knew in NWR though (not sure about Oregon, George?) that was even running on R-comps... We did have a GTR running in ASP though

From direct conversations I've had with Junior Johnson, he's very keen on running in C-stock next year in a 370Z (he does have other co-drive offers).
If he does run C-stock, the car owner that he'll be co-driving with has also mentioned to me directly that she'll be sending her yellow 370Z to Koni-NA over the winter to be fitted with prototype Koni SA's for the car.

P.S. Good luck whatever your decision ends up being!
No idea. I have our car in nearly stock (OE) trim right now. With a set of Konis and some used H tires sitting in the garage, in case we decide to run it - Jennifer does not want to run on ST tires again. I also have a couple of co-drive options, one in STX RX-8 version 2.0, the other an AS C5 FRC.But there is a good chance my only events this year will be the SD tour and natls. I just got back from dropping off the new Club Racing project car at the house. Road racing will likely use up my free time, and money, this year.
My 8 now lives in South Florida so you guys won't have me to kick around anymore!
I'm not planning to run very much this year even if i find a competitive ride so i guess
i'll just live vicariously through your exploits.

Eric,
I'm glad to hear things worked out with Teddie and David. I put in a good word for you & your car!
P.S. From what Teddie has mentioned, she and David plan to run the car in the new C-stock and retire their '99 miata.

We've only done one event in it so far, but we both love the car already (so does Jason, we couldn't get him out of the car)
The 8 is a beast compared to the '99 and we really look forward to autocrossing it this coming season.

I'll be interested in hearing how he likes the ex-Jones car once he gets a chance to do an autocross in it!
LOL....for the record, I have not actually driven Dave and Teddie's new car. I sat in it ONCE, then went and ran a Solstice GXP on streets
I am in for 2010, as long as Fossum can still put up with my snoring, although I'm sad that many of you guys are jumping ship.
Chris, as tempting as the 370 is, it's just too rich for my blood. Now, if I can convince Darrin to buy one.....

I'm still on the fence... probably will start the season in CS, and see where it goes from there.
Did a track day/weekend after nationals, which may have added a whole 'nuther level of complexity to the equation.

CS for me and co-driver in 2010, running at least one tour, and possibly NE Regional and a Pro. Just need more seat time, still getting used to a REAL rwd car compared to our 50% DSP build from 2009.

So there's an RX-8 you haven't driven?

I'll be running my RX8 locally in CS next year, in street tire class.
FYI, the 370z is killer fast. This is me in factory specs down to the tire pressures - I was fastest on street tires that day, and it was only the second time I drove the car:

You can hear I'm having a hard time putting the power down though.

Time will tell though. It'll be interesting to see if any serious contenders bring out some base Boxsters. I'll be interested in seeing what class GH Sharp runs next year...
