i hear the jeep compass comes with a tow hitch.

 

but which way does the compass point, hope in the right direction!

 

has anyone ever done this before? a tow hitch on an 8? wouldn't see it being a problem for a bike...don't pull anything else though :p Don't think there's a specific kit for the 8 though. Prob gonna have to go with a local shop for custom work...idunno though

For a bike, or tools & tires for a track weekend a hitch for an RX-8 is not that bad of an idea. Hitches were an option in Europe and can be found online LINK.

 

There are several manufacturers that make a 200lb tongue-weight hitch/receiver for the '8.
I need one myself.
I wanna drag around a tiny box trailer with a tire rack for track days.

The hitch assemblies are less than $200.

There's just something so wrong to me about a trailer hitch on a sports car. It's times like these that having a significant other comes in handy.

"ok honey, follow me in the truck"

 

On track days I have seen Vette's, BMW's, Porches with hitches. Until one can afford a dedicated tow vehicle for track days a hitch in not a bad idea. Being able to take a couple bikes to the beach with your RX-8 beats doing it with your minivan.

 

Lots of autocross guys have trailer hitches to tow a tire trailer to/from the event. But be careful which one you buy and do your research carefully, some people have had problems with the hitches causing cracks in the floor of the trunk.
