WTB: Remote Start
WTB: Remote Start
Despite what many people will tell me, I want to buy a remote start system for my car. It needs to be specifically made for an MT so that it knows when the car is in gear, so it won't start. I don't know much about these, so send me a pm with what you have and I will research about that product. The companies that I have looked at as of now are Viper, which I am pretty sure does not make anything for a MT, and Compustar, which does. Also, if the price is right, I might be interested in buying a security system/remote start combo. I live in Dallas so the closer the better. I don't mind if the product is shipped to me either....
Thanks guys,

Any remote start system you buy at stores will work. Its all in the wiring. I can sell you a Valet 561R remote start/keyless system if you're interested. Downside is, I'm located in Richmond, VA and wont be able to install it. Any good experienced installer can do it. I've done it plenty of times
I have a Python 990 on my 8.

I asked a local audio shop and they recommended a certain company, but the shop only sells vipers. Anyways, I have found remote start systems ranging from 40 to 200 dollars... What should I expect to pay for a good one?
For basic remote start the kit is around 40 or 50 bucks. Its all about what features you want. If you want something that has remote start, keyless entry, alarm (w/primary and secondary shock sensor), trunk pop and other programmable outputs, you'd be looking around 300 or 350. The expensive ones also go up in price because of the actual key fob. Some have LCD displays, some have LED, some have nothing.
Most of the good ones are made by the same company, Directed. They make Clifford, Viper, Python, Valet. You can purchase additional modules that will do different things like comfort closure (closes windows when the car is turned off) and crap like that.
Whenever you find what you want, let me know. I get a discount through Directed.
