Warranty Doesn't Apply
Thanks guys. That would be great, except that the dealership already said Mazda would kick back a warranty claim on the cat because there are large scrape marks on the bottom of it (which appears to be the cause of it crumbling inside).
I don't remember the exact moment that I did this, but I was scraping my side skirts all the time when I was riding with lowered sprint springs, so I must have bottomed out and scraped it one of those times (thinking I was scraping side skirts again!).
I don't drink and drive, honest!
So, bump for me.....I do need a cat. PM if you have one to sell reasonably.

I'm sure there's someone out there who hasn't seen this thread yet, that has upgraded their exhaust system and has one sitting around collecting dust somewhere.
If I don't hear from someone soon, I'll look at other options. I'd be fine with something that replaces the cat entirely but I don't want to throw a CEL all the time, and I don't want to invest in a Cobb device by Mazda Maniac (did I say that right? Just going off the top of my head) just to prevent a CEL. (That's all I'd be using it for. )
Take care. Thanks for the creative idea.
NP! You would think so. Keep looking you might just find one. Ya I would like to go straight pipe, but not worth it for emissions. If I had a good car garage to work on my car then I probably would, do the swap every two years, but right now not worth it. I think I have read that some ppl don't thro the CEL with certain mid pipes. Also, you could try the high flow cat. That was gonna be the way I was going to go, until they finally decided to cover it under warranty.GL!
Yeah... I think most people hold onto their stock cats for the very purpose of blowing their engine and trying not to void their core warranty.
Cars bottom out - that's not what caused your cat to fail. May want to try a different dealership.
