PTY RX-8

HI ALL:

I AM HAVING TROUBLE TO GET MY STEERING RACK TO WORK. HERE IS THE THING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR WRECKED. IT CAME WITH A BROKEN STEERING RACK. I BOUGHT A USED BUT IN GOOD(LOOKING) CONDITIONS STEERING RACK. WHEN I PUT THE SR IN PLACE & POWER UP THE CAR, IT WENT CRAZY, ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT, ABRUPTLY TO THE LEFT.

I CALLED THE GUY WHO SOLD ME THE STEERING RACK AND ASK FOR A SR MODULE. HE SEND ME THE MODULE, AND PUT IT IN, AND THE WHEEL DID NOT GO TO THE LEFT BUT STAYED BUT HARD, THE LIGHT WAS ON ALL THE TIME.

I DID SOME TEST WITH ANOTHER 8 FROM A FRIEND AND CHANGED THE MODULE BACK AND FORTH. THE MODULE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WAS GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS WORKING FINE WITH THE OTHER CAR, AND VICEVERSA, IT DID THE SAME WITH MY FRIENDS CAR MODULE.

TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I THINK THE SR IS NOT WORKING FINE.

I REQUESTED ANOTHER MODULE WHICH I STILL NEED TO TEST.

ALL THESE PARTS ARE USED, I DONT HAVE THE $$ TO PURCHSE NEW SR NOR MODULE.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I AM IN PANAMA AND DEALER HERE IS SO SO.

You need to have the module programmed...it needs to be done with a VCM or wds system at the dealer.

It is also a really finicky thing to program. You have to follow the convoluted directions to the letter...or you will have to do it over and over

Ask me how I know ...the dealer tech tried 4 times before we pulled out the manual and I read him the direction aloud, one step at a time

here they are very ignorant, the manager told me that he spoke with Atlanta and the Rack needs to be bought new? I am confused and tired of all this. I really need help.

Find another dealer...that's crap...they should be able to reprogram it if it is functional
