Do you know how much it would cost to have seals and bearings replaced??
also was its effect on gas milage pretty noticeable

Unfortunately the labor costs can vary. The seals / bearings / shims (if needed) will cost about $100 from Mazda. The labor is probably about 100-150, because it might take a few tries to achieve the proper backlash.

Regarding the mileage, I wouldn't know as this came out of my stock S2 which averages about 240 miles / tank.
