Rotors are the same front to rear, only thing that is directional on Rx8 rotors are the oil control springs.

There is a scallop or cut out next to the apex seals , front rotor it is on the right , rear rotor it is on the left.
This is what I was told by multiple engine builders and same information is also on mazdatrix website when buying rotors.

I've just looked back at pictures of my most recent build. Never have paid attention to it but looks like I got it right by dumb luck if that is the case. I've only ever paid attention to the gear side. Like if the gear side is down then that would move a cut which was on the left outer to the right side of the rotor since it was flipped. Ill check on another set of rotors I have to see if this logic is right. But I have never mixed and matched rotors only ever used the same set from the motor.

Where did you get your current rotors from?

You are right. Never noticed that they are directional. Maybe I have a rear you can buy. Ill go look.

I cut off the corner cuz I use this one as a tool to cut side seals.

Yea I looked at a set of mine and noticed now. I guess I never really gave it much thought. Always something new to learn.
