Racing Beat, race flash on a 2004 ecu 6 spd. This will work on all series 1 rx8's as it has been programmed to work around the immobilizer stuff. I used it on my 2005, perfect if you need an ecu and want to avoid the hassle and expense of having the dealer program it to run with your security stuff. Another benefit is of course the reprogram, which can be read about at the racing beat site. If you don't care about the ability to tune and want a small bump up top this is it. Switched over to a standalone for my race car so this is not needed.

........we MUST flash the PCM unit that came equipped with your car.
Correct, however, the 2004 ECU is unique, and the immobilizer bits can be overwritten/deleted, to leave an ECU that will work in ANY 2004/8 car.
I have one, and swap it among cars with no problems (the little red 'key' icon flashes for a while, then stops)
