I really hate to state the obvious, but you're parting a car out over what is likely a starter issue? Early S1's have a notoriously weak starter...

Have you checked if you're still under the extended warranty on the engine? Mine was doing the same thing until it finally wouldn't start at all. Engine was replaced.

If you do part it out, can you give me prices on the following:
Driver's side sun visor (as long as it isn't starting to break)
6-CD changer if it has one. I don't need the whole radio, just looking for the cd changer
Center console piece that holds the Ashtray and lighter.
