LOTS of CarPC system components - tailored for RX-8

OK guys, here is your chance to quickly snatch up years worth of collecting, testing, installing, and enjoying CarPC components for my RX-8. I'll be really simple with my description, $750 takes everything you see in the pics. It is a fully operational computer with Windows 64 bit Ultimate installed and running. I'm including a legit Windows Vista 32/64 bit ultimate disc set in the deal. There are some programs running on the 320 GB(?) hard drive too, like the Hymee SCANalyzer software so you can clear codes and have fun with your OBDII ECU. I had the motherboard and HD mounted on a plate which was mounted above the glovebox area. I am including a modified glovebox cover so you don't have to trash yours. Had a Logitech Orbit cam in the center speaker position, that's why the fabric has a big hole in it. The base pops right into the speaker mounts. Gutted Mazda factory OEM NAV hood with Xenarc 7" touchscreen monitor installed. The touch part doesn't work right anymore, can't calibrate it, manufacture said it is probably a loose connection...I upgraded the control module to be HID compliant, that's when the trouble started...old module is included (in the bag). 2 GB RAM. High powered WiFi USB adapter and antenna. USB hub with pretty colors. Parrott CK3000 Bluetooth kit with Quick Connect harness for Mazda Bose system - OLED display and remote. Griffin Powermate (cord is cut) so you can make your own BMW iDrive system...rotary encoders are nice in automotive environments. PIE adapter and other audio/control adapters for steering wheel control. Bluetooth adapter. Custom radio panel with 5 different color LEDs.... I used one for PC power status (blinks when in standby/off), rear camera DC power on/off, engine fans on/off, HD activity, and WiFi on/off. Ash tray modified with a PC tower interface panel for USB, power and memory card reader (ghetto but works well). Rear NTSC camera integrated into rear 3rd tail light housing. OPUS 250W DC-DC smart power supply...was the cat's meow back in the day of CarPC integration, and still works great...also an older version included in the pile. Slot load DVD/CD burner with firewire/usb interface, and is powered by the OPUS in this setup. HD Radio setup with remote mountable control panel. 2 GPS antennas, plus a Holux bluetooth GPS cigarette lighter device. Lots of cables etc... The Parrot allows for A2DP bluetooth streaming BTW. I barely scratched the surface with this setup as compared to some guys out there...I just used Windows like you would on any laptop etc...this system is ready for your custom front-end and further development.

Please note, you are buying these items AS-IS, and I will *NOT* install this stuff in your car. It took me 2 years of playing and buying and tweaking just to be satisfied with the operation and integration of all the parts...it took me two full weekend days just to un-install it all. I will be able to answer some basic questions on what's what, but I'm not giving out a hotline phone number for 24 hour support on this stuff! If you are not real handy with wiring, DC power, computers, modding your interior, software-hardware integration, this package probably isn't for you. Again, $750 takes everything you see, and I will ship this all to you at no additional charge CONUS only.

Here is the spread:

I hope and am pretty sure I was the first to PM about the nav ;) DIBZ!

Chamberlin 02-26-2012 12:39 PM

Modified Nav hood with Xenarc screen will go up on eBay if not sold here with the lot.
Thanks for your interest.

dmedz8 02-26-2012 03:28 PM

any interest in selling the nav hood with no screen? I already have a lilliput...

Diamond_Eyez 02-26-2012 05:43 PM

:( GLWS then..

RastaRx-8 02-26-2012 05:44 PM

why the hell would you put it up on ebay instead of letting someone here buy it?

:dunno:

REV-illusions 02-26-2012 07:45 PM

Because then it goes to the highest bidder. Makes sense to me. Nice looking setup btw.

Well gee, I was nice enough to post this stuff up here first, to try to sell it to a forum member, so I *am* letting somebody here buy it! WTF?

But since nobody wants to pay my asking price, or has even PM'd me a dollar amount offer, how else besides eBay could I get what I need out of the parts, and still be fair by giving everyone a chance to get it?

BTW, what are the going rates for a Mazda OEM nav hood with a custom mounted computer screen? Don't the NAV housing assemblies (with a useless screen) sell for $1200 alone from Mazda?

If you guys (and cute girls) can shoot me a decent PM offer on the NAV assembly (with screen installed) I'll consider it, and just bin the rest of the parts- I'm just trying to be fair here, to you all and myself...it's hard enough for me to be dumping 2 years worth of work, and parts at the price I'm asking.

Sale pending

REV-illusions 02-28-2012 06:04 AM

The whole thing or just the nav/monitor setup?

Chamberlin 02-28-2012 03:03 PM

The actual PC (just the motherboard, hard drive, optical drive, and Vista) is sold, and the rest is pending.

RastaRx-8 02-29-2012 01:45 AM

so you have split it up , but its pending sale to someone? hope it was one of the original people that asked..

Dude seriously what is your issue here?

Just so you know, a forum member here has a deal pending for all the remaining parts other than the PC itself. If that person does not follow through, I will close the ad and move to other means of sales distribution. You act like I am somehow obligated to 'giveaway' my wares to the first person who says "dibbbzz!". This ain't Obamanomics here. Money talks and BS does something else.

Den18 02-29-2012 08:03 PM

lolol yeah i just wont everything that going to make the hood work...i dont need all the extra stuff like the back up cam and hd radio stuff

Chamberlin 02-29-2012 08:34 PM

If you're talking about the hood 'working' as in the up and down buttons and the buttons lighting up and stuff, be prepared for some serious electrical fun...I looked into it way back in the day, but it is totally a waste of time. The motor is still in there so that the hood stays wherever you position it, but to get the actual buttons to work on a car that didn't come with NAV originally is kinda a pain in the ass. Just read here to get an idea:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/oem-navigation-hood-retrofit-carputer-application-140504/

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/hooking-up-used-nav-screen-buttons-87146/

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/oem-nav-hood-controls-w-o-custom-pcb-172054/

BTW, the real trick to this hood is the fact that a computer screen (with IR remote control, and 2 NTSC video inputs) has already been custom installed into this housing... Which means at some point, somebody had to buy a used factory NAV assembly for like $800+, gut out the Mazda screen (cause it's useless), buy a brand new Xenarc 7" monitor for like $400, rip that apart, and figure out a way to install it into the factory housing, all while not totally F&$(*&@ing up the housing or the Xenarc... it was a pretty serious bit of surgery back in the day...probably no big deal these days.

REV-illusions 02-29-2012 09:41 PM

Not really.. it's still a pain in the ass. I was making a custom servo / ardunio setup to control the raising and lowering of the hood... assuming I ever get off my ass and finish making it. The control works though... small joys.

Myrotary8wins 03-02-2012 07:02 PM

wow dude thats a sick setup, BUMP BUMP

tronicj 03-07-2012 07:38 AM

Three questions.

Do you still have this, or parts of this?

What mobo / processor are you running?

What front end software are you using if any?

Chamberlin 03-07-2012 08:17 AM

The nav hood/screen will be going on auction in the next week or so, computer is sold and gone, some bits and pieces are still available.

It was a Jetway MB running an Intel T7200, never got around to installing a front-end....tried centrfuse back in the day and a few others, but for what I used it for, windows was fine for me, just not as pretty as a FE.

RastaRx-8 03-07-2012 06:17 PM

so after all the interest in this thread for the screen you still choose to try to get as much money as possible with an auction instead of letting people here battle for it...
