GI: Custom Weighted Stainless Steel Shift ***** [$70 shipped]
This is purely a Group Interest thread. There needs to be enough good/confirmed interest before I can go about having these all machined. Once there is enoguh interest I will go about the proper ways of setting up a Group Buy. Until then...have at it!
------------------------------------------
First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Gregg, and I used to be somewhat active over here unti lI got a 3.0L mazda6 instead of an RX-8 (which was my original plan). I am an extremely active member of 6crew.com and Mazda6club.com. I have already had a GB on 6crew for these back when I used to machine these myself. However, with school in the way of all that now, I have a local machine shop who was willing to help me out.
I'm going to try and swing by a Mazda dealership to make sure the threading is the same (which I believe it is) as the Mazda6 and MS6. However, if anyone knows off the top of their head the threading on the MTX RX-8's shifter and the length of the shifter that extends out of the boot, that would make this completly easier.
Anyways, I am hosting the GI on a few different forums, so these will definitely get made. If the RX-8 does have different threading that is still not an issue as long as there is interest, I can make it happen for you all.

Stats:
Ok, well here is some info on the shift ***** (including some of the new information about it). For these shift ***** I will be using 303 stainless steel instead of 304 stainless steel. The reason being, 303 SS will not react to the oils of the human skin.
The shift **** stands at 2.4" tall and weighs around 630 grams (nearing 1.5 lbs - closer to 1.2lbs).
Testamonies (from 6crew.com):
How they will be made:
These will all be made at one time at a local machine shop that does superb work in my honest opinion. I will have 40 shift ***** made at one time once I get at least 13-15 people confirmed interested in the GI. I will try and host this GI across a few forums so as to get those interested their ***** faster!
Pricing:
All shipping will be UPS ground also, so there will be no packages stuck in 'limbo' due to USPS shipping.
Pricing will be either $65 shipped or $70 shipped. t depends on how many people I get in on his right away. This is what I'm thinking:
13-20 --> $70 shipped
20+ ----> $65 shipped
Interested:
1. RX8racing05

To each their own. I'm just trying to help out some of you all that may be looking into beefy shift *****. These weigh in near 1.3 lbs and literally shift themselves (especially if you have a STS).

just pm one of the Mods. They'll walk you thru the GB process.
Also, do they come in spheres?
@9krpm: i love the voodoo **** too.. but it's on the lighter side. this seems better weighted, but i don't really like the shape.. i love spheres shift *****

As for a different design, I can check into it for you all specifically if there is enough interest. Otherwise, this will be the slated design seeing as I already have the 3d modeling made with demensions and sent to the machinist.

Ok, well I'm sorry a few of you think this is overpriced. One of the main attractions to getting a new shift **** (if you get it for the shifting benefits and not purely for looks) is the added weight. I would like to show you the TWM Desert Eagle, the shift **** that gave me the idea to go about this design.
HERE is a link to TWM's web site.
It goes for $104 (still has 30 grams less material than mine) and that's without shipping (which is between $10 - $20 depending on where you live.
If you aren't interested please don't crap on the thread. This is a fair price for the amount of material I have to put into each shift ****. I'm not trying to make a killing...just offer you all a chance to jump on a high quality shift **** but without the namebrand pricetag.

Dude no offense but the Voo Doo **** is perfectly weighted which is why it has been used so widely for years. There is such a thing as too heavy and the shape of that **** is not suited for racing so just call it what it is. I'm not thread crapping because as soon as a mod sees this thread it will be closed anyway.

To each their own. Like I said, if you don't like it that's fine. If you do like it, that is fine as well. I'm not saying that there aren't other shift ***** out there that may suit someone's interest's better. I'm just saying that there is a small chance that maybe one other person may be looking for this style / weight shift ****.

I agree it looks great, but all a weighted shift **** does is trash on your shift forks! Feels awesome, I also agree, but excessive weight on the end of a stick will put undue stress on the tranny components...
