FOILED by the Ministry of Transportation - transfers of personalized plates are only allowed to immediate family!??

I have sold my car but have the plates. (I ordered these in Feb 03 - 5 mon before my car came) I thought someone might want them rather than have them hang in my garage. $75

I'm not sure of the process, but the license office said they can be transferred, but not at a walk-in office. They gave me a contact # and I will chase the paperwork around when the time comes.

 

OMG that is cool but how do u change them over??

$75 is a great deal for a custom plate if anyone lookin for them... a regular plate cost $20 from the ministry.

When I ordered my plate it costed me $220 if not more~

No - you're right on. Just contacted them. It's called Service Ontario. Apparently, notwithstanding what they told me at the walk-in office, the Ministry decrees that you can only transfer personalized plates to members of your immediate family???

So, I guess I'll find a nice place for them in the garage.

Don't think that's the case~ a friend of mine just sold his custom plate to another friend... I believe there's a form to fill out or something like that!!!

I'll get my licensing girl to find out more info~

 

Would have been nice to not go through all the paper work...Oh well, thnx...good idea..

They faxed me the form - it confirms the famliy thing. I guess you could try - my wife uses her maiden name... but the fine print says they'll check.
