Can these be fitted to a stock 8 at a regular shop? How would they look on a TG w/o any lowering? Why isn't this size listed for the 8 at tirerack?

Yes, it can fit an RX8. It has the same bolt pattern. Ummm, I'm not sure how it would look on a TG, that's entirely your call.

It's probably not a common size/finish so tirerack will not list it. The only SBC they list is probably the 18x7.5 with a +48 offset, which is disgustingly sunken in then.

I'm more concerned with the look of this size of wheel/tire vs. stock. Aside from being flush, will it look wrong, as in too much empty space, when not lowered?

That's an opinion question. I think the car has too much empty space as it sits brand new on the lot. Try to find pictures of someone running 225/40/18 or 255/35/18 on stock height. Those should be more common and easier to search for.

That's good advice right there. In my opinion I think the RX-8 sits very high stock. The sidwalls of this wheel/tire combo will be a bit bigger than the stock 225/45, which may make the gap look smaller or about the same because the wheel size is smaller.

I think it will look a little worse too because the RPF1s are not full face wheels and has that lip that goes around it. If performance is all you're concerned about then this will be the wheel of choice. The finish is absolutely gorgeous on it, but if you're looking for something more "show" then you probably don't want these.

Thanks. Yeah, I know they're about ideal for the track (second to forged volks) based on the weight and dimensions. I'm just weighing in how foolish I'd look with such good wheels without being able to afford the lowering kit for I don't know how long.

225/50/17 is roughly equal to 225/45/18, while 255/40/17 is an inch smaller in diameter. 1/2" more wheel gap and the car is a 1/2" closer to the ground. That is what he is talking about I believe.
