will this work on an 04? is this an ipod hook up? if so will it charge a newer ipod?

 

It works on 04-08... and probably the Series II 09+ too. It's a 3.5mm headphone connection, so it will work with anything, but will not charge anything.

how difficult is this to hook up? any soldering?

 

No soldering.
If you are able to remove the stock head unit, that's all you need because this plugs into the tape player socket and emulates a cassette player.
Very easy way to an AUX input - but it is just that, so there is no control or any other feature than providing a way to connect an external player to the factory stereo.
