FS: AudioLink iPod / AUX-IN Adapter
FS: AudioLink iPod / AUX-IN Adapter
[SOLD]
I turned in my lease yesterday :-(
Probably won't be getting another mazda, so I'm selling my iPod adapter. It's 27 months old (27 month lease :-D ). Actually it's less than that, because the first one I got was defective so they sent me a new one. This little box can easily be tucked inside your center console. It has a plug that plugs into the back of your radio. The other end has a standard headphone jack, and a dock connector. The dock connector plays, controls, and charges your iPod or iPhone. You can change the track using the steering wheel.
You can use these instructions for the installation. Just stop once you have the radio removed, and plug in the ipod adapter instead of taking apart the radio.

Hmmm
Case of the disappearing posts?
You don't lose radio or CD when you use this adapter. You just press CD (i think) twice and it switches to this aux adapter. If the OEM Sat radio is built into the radio, this should work no problem. That is, as long as it doesn't use the plug this device plugs into.
Here's the details on the unit, with specifics:

Note: I have paypal, but I only have a personal account so no credit card payments. The cash has to come from your account balance. Shipping for this thing will probably be $10 or less domestic.
Although if I'm going to assume you're asking for the reason of car-compatibility, this is from the manufacturer's website, regarding RX-8's:
NOTE for 2004-2005 Mazda RX-8: The factory headunit's firmware revision must be 9.55 or greater. The unit will not work on earlier firmware revisions or with 9.81 or 10.01. To find out which revision your Mazda RX-8 has, make sure the radio (FM) is turned on, then press and hold "TEXT." Then, also press and hold "1" at the same time for a few more seconds. The LCD should then report your firmware version.

CD button twice I believe. I don't remember exactly because i ONLY listen to my ipod. There is a whole, the bottom half of the circle, that pops out and you can stick in a tape deck or a mini disk player. I think my first RX8 might have came with a tape deck, i don't remember.
One last question (Sorry, I have bought things that SHOULD have worked in the past...but they didn't). I see on one site that I have to choose what type of iPod I have. I have a 5th gen iPod that I use personally and my girlfriend has the 2nd gen touch. Do they both work?
These are supposed to work with any ipod with a dock connector. I can tell you from 1st hand experience that they work with 3rd gen ipods and 1st gen iphones. It should work with both of your ipods no problem. Although you can always tell your gf it won't work with hers, only yours
Ah, I just bought mine 2 weeks ago. Waiting for shipment, they're out of stock on the website, more orders coming in by the end of the month. Sucks, would of bought this one instead, I can't wait any longer.
