Broken S1 Engine Harness

Category: Accessories
Price: $50
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): TX
Item Condition: Used

I was hoping someone might have a harness that was shorted out, or otherwise not in fully working condition they might be able to sell fairly cheap. There are a few connectors I want to de-pin and rewire which I'm not sure how to obtain otherwise.

I was looking for the four connectors that belonged to the EPS. The two that connected to the EPS module and the two that correspond to those under the airbox. I can find some pictures tomorrow.

Those are on the front harness....I'm afraid I don't have those.

That's more or less what I thought when I called Mazda trying to get the part # for the harness last month. They were very insistent that what I needed was actually the engine harness. The dealership around here is a joke.

Awesome, if you're willing to get rid of them. I'll send you a PM in a bit when I get in the office.

Well I started thinking about it and came back to ask if you were sure they were on the engine harness and not the chassis harness. I only have the engine harness(es). You will probably need to hit up someone in the parting out FS threads for the chassis harness parts

No problem, I'll have to dig up that part number later.

If you can identify what you might need from an engine harness I should be able to provide it. I collected a few over the years just for that purpose.

I appreciate the offer. There's a few connectors that I might need later on for some Harlan-esque experiments. Those are farther down the line though. I'll keep it in mind.

For now I think I'm just going to chop the harness on the car rather than track down the right chassis harness. I hate the idea of it, but there's not much of a way to **** it up.

Mazda sells the extension harness between the rack and the plug by the overflow. It's not to bad a price. It was a fix they were doing for the steering cutting out problem.

if it was me I would just splice out those connectors and be done with it 😎

I already replaced that entire harness (From under the airbox down to the steering rack) with a brand new one. Then cut the two connectors there and soldered those together after that didn't resolve the issue. The steering got a little better but it's still pretty janky. Looking at the resistance on the EPS side of the plug it's a bit inconsistent so I'm assuming there is a short in the main harness that connects to the EPS.

I ordered two sub-harnesses by accident, so I was hoping to just get the 4 connectors and create my own harness that connects to the EPS module. I'd have much rather of created this piece before I started jacking the car up. But this is really overcomplicating the whole situation.

That and I'm impatient as hell. So I'm just going to cut the torque sensor connector off my spare sub-harness and the matching connector on the EPS module out of my car. Solder it up and shrink tube it. Should take about an hour.
