Axxess iPod adapter w/ text on radio

I have an axxess ipod adapter that displays TEXT on the radio screen.

Just traded in my RX8...

Older ipods: charges and play
newer ipods/iPhone 3G: only plays, WON'T charge

Once connected, ipod/itouch screen will lock up and can only be controlled by the radio/steering wheel buttons

You might want to also note that the HU firmware needs to 9.55 or greater (and not 10.01) or else it won't work.

I believe you can do the following:

Make sure the radio (FM) is turned on
press and hold "TEXT." and then at the same time press and hold "1" for a few seconds.
