I'm glad you, and especially no one else, were seriously hurt.

O.M.G Devil!!! WTF?!

I'm glad you walked away safely from the accident, but more then that I'm thankful you didn't hit anyone else. If you died because you were stupid, that's your ******* fault and your wife and kid can deal with it. If you'd have killed an innocent person....well...you get the idea.

Glad you're safe man, heal up quickly and keep negotiating with the wife.

I've been thinking about this. Don't get a new car, get a used one. A used car will have to be replaced sooner than a new car. You won't be stuck driving something you don't like for a long time (along with the depreciation on this car). You can be even more contrite, you don't deserve a new car.
In a year or two, go for the drivers car again.

I've been thinking about that. Since I'll only be able to drive to and from work for the next 7 months I think I may hold off on buying a car till February 2009. No point in getting a car if I can't drive it, unless I'm going to work. A coworker lives down the block so I asked her to carpool and I'll pay her $30 a week, she agreed. This way I can save up some cash for the next car whether it be new or used. I was even looking into a lease takeover. Told the wife the 09 RX-8 has a $319 a month lease, she laughed at me

Just got my check in the mail ,4K after the lien holder was paid off. Just spoke to my insurance and even with the accident and the OWI my insurance will only go up $60 per month, but I need to increase my deductible to 1K. The new rate will stay for 18 months, then go back down to normal. So if my calculations are correct after paying a $726 OWI ticket, $60 a month more for the next 18 months and receiving 4K back from the insurance Co. I am actually coming out on top money wise But still not worth the broken wrist and the trauma I put my wife through

OWI was only a 726$ ticket? guess michigan law is a lot more harsh.. there is mandatory probation and demands from probation that cost additional money for even first offense OWI (not the harsher DUI) charges... consider yourself lucky to be alive and you arent becoming the legal systems bitch for 6-12 mo due to probation.

In WI the firt offence is a civil matter with a ticket of no more then 1K and a mandatory 6 month lisience suspension, though you are given a occupational lisience in the meantime. If this would have been NYC it would have been much worse and expensive.

well, consider a hard lesson learned and like i said, be thankful for your child and wife's sake that you are alive. money comes and goes, but freedom and life are irreplaceable.

Yea, these type of things change the way you see life. Since then I havn't been able to have a beer, just the thought makes me sick. I was never a heavy drinker, just a beer with dinner and maybe a srink or two if I went out on the weekend. Now I can't even have a beer without feeling sick.

Yea, that's my last option. Though she may be breaking on the BMW 335i, though I need to come up with the difference b/w my old 8 payment and the 335i payment which is about $200.
