World of Rawrcraft
So I have a few projects here and there. I liked Rotrs thread and I give him props for everything he does. The ability to craft, make, fabricate is something that not everyone can do. My fab skills still arent the best nor are my welds but im still very young and I have years ahead of me to improve anything/everything I do.
Unlike Rotr who has access to a 5 axis C&C, Water jet and a professional welder. I have a small garage with sawzals, angle grinders, welder and raw muscle. So I do try my best, though I wish I did have a water jet
So I made a post but deleted it just till I was really done. Sadly I have zero pictures of this in the car but it wouldnt really matter because 95% of the people on the forum wouldnt pay attention to it. They would just see a carbon Status seat. That would be the end of that.
Seat brackets for a Status Ring GT seat.
Main goal with this project was to get it to fit someone who is like 6'5 into the RX-8. Adding to give him at least a inch of head room while wearing his helmet. Im pretty sure that I did achieve this. We couldnt really try it because he now lives half way across the country from me so I had to pretend I was 6'5 with piece of wood under my ***.
I went through a few designs but ended up making this crude looking bracket look like a golden goose egg. I have zero pictures of the whole build because frankly I was alone and didnt have time to facebook picture myself the whole time. I dont think I would have done anything.
These are the finished product before and after paint. Sorry theres green paint in some of the pictures. I thought it was black and was outside in the dark spraying. Guess I was wrong when I came back into the light.

I didn't have a chance to get them in the car today. Assembling them took longer than i thought it was going to (the holes one one of your side mounts was like .00001 inches off and i couldn't get the bolt to line up).
I'll hopefully get them in tomorrow but probably not until later so i probably wont post pics right away.

nope Rawr used his master craftsman skills to build the brackets for me. We started this process when i was still living in WA but i recently moved to OK so he sent them with my g/f when she moved out here.
It would have been nice to be there throughout the build process but i must say he did a fine job for not having me there to size up and test fit.

Holy Shizzz! That is bad *** man!
Rawr, how much more room to you think you could squeak out of the brackets? i.e. do you think you could go any lower? I would really like to see a picture of 6'5" person (Jantzen) seated with helmet (stig style).
See I'm 6'9" and fit with the seat cranked down to the bottom (cloth seats) and no sun-roof, but the there is absolutely NO WAY I can fit with an approved helmet. This is the reason I can't do any auto-x or track days. I have been contemplating buying/fabricating something like this so that I can fit in a low-pro reclining race seat.
Anyway...awesome work. Jantzen, you are lucky to have found someone to make these for you.
Cheers
