Winning Blue Painted Brake Caliper pics

Hey guys

I've been thinking about painting my brake calipers lately. I've seen tons of reds, blacks, silvers and grey 8's with painted calipers. BUT what i want to see is the beloved Winning Blue with painted calipers.

What do you guys think about blue calipers on blue?

How about white? Too ricey and will get dirty right?

The only pic I found is Whealy's car (hope you don't mind me stealing your pic) ... which is blue on blue.

Post your pics and suggestions! Thanks!

I think it looks great. Anything like traditional red would clash too much. I don't think white would look right, either. Maybe black with a blue RX-8 logo if you want something more subtle.

i think it looks great.

the center cap being blue is a bit much for my taste though, it looks like you're trying too hard. Paint them black instead

I did the traditional red on my winning blue. It does stand out a bit, but I think it looks nice enough. I wll be redoeing them eventually, maybe to blue or to black with a decal this time. I was also debating aluminum, but I think that would be a bit much.

It depends on the rims...with the stocks the blue doesn't look too bad. However, with a set of Volks, wouldn't work.

If you want your car to stand out from the others, then get rid of the clear corners and go with something unusual....like orange corners (you know, the ones that came with the car?) and paint your calipers the same orange. If that's too individual and unique, try painting the calipers a subdued gold, or even a nice burnished bronze would compliment the blue.

Or if you really wanted to be groovy, you could get a small can of paint of one of the other RX8 colors; like titanium gray, velocity red, silver, yellow....you know? Might look pretty cool to have your calipers and wheel center caps matching one of the other car colors.

Just my 1 3/4¢

I like it!
The center caps are a bit much but they show that you went the extra mile for your car.

As soon as I get my black RX, I'm painting the calipers RED!

Are you being serious about the orange calipers and orange corners??? It would look a lot like the blue 350Z but then why do I want to be like a 350Z??? didn't mean to come off rude. I do admit that it could look alright in a gold or bronze though.

Guys let's see your pics!

Ha ha ... WHealy you better love them ... it's your car in the pics!! ha ha. Man, I saw your other pics of your mods ... you really are the BLUE MAN!! Holy Jeebus, your car is hot. If only they made the leather interior in a two tone blue/black combo, eh? If you don't mind me asking, what kind of paint did you use for the calipers and hub centers. I seem to remember G2??

Actually I was being serious. It wouldn't look at all like a 350z; RX8's have class. The sculpted lines of the 8 are far better looking IMO. I don't like clear corners on the blue 8, but that's just me....apparently everyone else just swoons over clear corners.

Personally I think the burnished bronze would be the best look. Either that or a darker gunmetal blue, almost like a metallic royal blue. I may actually do this myself now that I'm thinking about it.....

Do the blue...if you paint them white I will be forced to track you down and slap you silly until some sense of taste appears in your head!

I just whipped up a couple of photoshop versions of the bronze, and darker blue. I think the bronze looks the best, but the dark blue isn't bad either.

Hey Rotten42, unfortunately for you velocity red folk, the color doesn't ACTUALLY give you extra speed ... so good luck catching me. :D But yea, white calipers are silly now that I think about it.

Thanks Ole Spiff for the photoshopping. I'm tending towards the regular blue like what WHealy did, and it's about a tie between dark blue and bronze/gold (ala Zed).

Yes, i used the G2 paint. Don't think I posted much on it as other had before me. This pic was from the painting of my hubs.

V Red's are a dime a dozen! It's like having a Civic.

anyhoo, I think I'm set on the blue calipers (copying WHealy's styles). I get on this when it warms up. Thanks for the input guys
