Watcher, I think you are confusing JDM with the "hooked up" look. I think what he is really looking for is some show car type of RX-8 (see Pepsi/Vivid). Please stop the fanboi revelation by calling that look as "JDM."
The reason why Honda owners keep calling hooked up Hondas as JDM is because some of them actually have parts coming from Japanese version of their cars (ie. lip, wheels, interiors, etc.) But that's only because their American versions are different to that of Japan's. RX-8 are pretty much the same with the Japanese versions (JDM), except for the placement of the driver.
Guess what? There's no reason for our RX-8s to try to be "JDM" because it already is as far as style or what's in it. Look for a sticker in your car, if you really have one, that says "99% made in Japan." People are ripping on you coz you're being a silly fanboi.

The only time JDM ever made sense to me was when a freind showed me an integra that didn't have the 2 round headlights. The guy had imported the front bumper and lights from the japanese version and said it's JDM bumper.

You'll see very similar stuff with 240sx and 180sx Nissan Owners. The japanese versions of those cars (s14, s13 sylvias) had more power and were actually boosted.
Alot of times it makes sense to go JDM, many times (like in the RX-8) it doesnt. Then again, whether any of this makes sense or not, people will still do whatever they want. Its their cars, its their money... let them be.
