Now i didn't know there was a push start button but what is that little slot thing for???

That's a picture from the Evolve, I think- neither of those things (whatever the slot is) will be on the RX-8.

 

I don't know cauthat was a pic off of a new set of pics of the RX-8.

i dunno know. was just asking cause i didn't know anything about it. and it looked pretty odd. thanks guys.

 

Hi all,

you might remember, the RX-8 was initially planned with keyless entry system (like a renault laguna).
If Mazda would have built the RX-8 with keyless entry, the slot should be for the key card, and, as you don't have a key to start - the starter button would be mandatory. Unfortunally, Mazda seems to decide not implement keyless entry system ....

I think the picure is for Evolve.

Yes, the card slot is only for Evolve. There is no such a slot for RX-8.
But the start button option does exits for RX-8 and the appearance is almost the same. The price is 21,000 yen (USD$ 180K) in Japan.
This switch is used just to start the engine. So you still need key. This option exists just for fun. I like this option but a little bit expensive to me.

1)turn the iginition key to on position
2)the ring of the start button light.
3)push the start button
4)engine start.
