Getting into the car doesn't look as easy as I had expected. I guess the front seat might be further back than most of the promo shots, but that's probably the position it would have to be in for me to drive it.

...to me that seat looks way too far back... but then again, i like some flex in my knees (so that even against the firewall they're not totally straight) so i know i can reach everything easily...
If you want to get into the back seat of a 2 door coupe, you put the front seat forward don't you.
If the RX-8 had only 2 doors, you would put the front seat forward when getting in the back wouldn't you.
So why, just because the RX-8 has 4 doors, would you not put the front seat forward when getting in the back ?
The point of having the Freestyle doors and no B-pillar is not so that you can climb into the back seat without putting the front seat forward. It's that it is MUCH MUCH easier to get in the back WITH the front seat forward....in comparison with any other 2 door 4 seat vehicle.

Yeah, but I didn't think the RX-8 seat had a quick release handle. That means you would have to reset the seat everytime someone got out from the back. That would get annoying.
But the more I look at it, I agree with wakeech, the seat is probably way too far back. I typically sit so that I can rest my wrists on top of the steering wheel. Unless my arms were about a foot longer, I'd have to sit a bit closer to the wheel than that seat is in the picture.

Even a small child cannot get in the back seat of my 4 door Vigor if they are trying to sit behind me. The 8 has more leg room than my current sedan. Yes I will have to move my seat up a little when I have someone in the back seat. But 99% of the time, I'll be fine and my rear seat passengers will have a better experience 100% of the time.
Man I have been trying to post for almost 2hours. Here it goes
When I saw the car the at southbeach. It was not difficult to get in or out. The thing I noticed was since you sit with your *** low(relative to your knees) and leaned back you have to pull yourself out of the seat becuase you do not have the leverage to simply step out.

Stephen,
Your comment about a lack of quick release lever worried me, so I went back through all my photos to see what I could see.
I am pretty certain that the lever I have indicated in the attached photo is the quick release lever for the front passenger seat. I have other photos with the seat backs upright and the lever in these instances is in a lower position.
BUT....I cannot identify a similar lever on the driver's seat. Perhaps this is due to the driver's seat being electrically operated and so the quick release lever is located in a different position ?

I hope you're right, but I thought I remember reading in an article a while ago about them complaining about a lack of a quick release lever. Does anybody else remember this, or am I making it up?
If the circled lever in your pic is the quick release, where is the seat back adjuster? I guess it wouldn't be that big a deal to readjust the seats, I just thought a quick release handle would be nice.

Consider if the photo was taken from just above the driver's side door. There is room there, it just happens that this photograph was taken at an awkward moment.
Gorilla harms ?
Well i tried it and i am 1m80 (sorry I don't understand anything about inches and other body parts).
I have a regular seat position and it's very easy and simple to access the rear seats ...
Yours was really set too much far from the wheel drive ...
