Video for Weird Display Problem...

Here's the story..

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/weird-problem-center-diplay-looks-like-alien-language-58021/

I ran thru the heater controls, and turned on the radio to show there's no effective change in the behavior.

here's what it's doing:

havent taken it in - just a few mins ago I removed the fuse to the new amp, and disconnected the battery for a few minutes. After a re-plug, I started the car and things are working great. I'll drive for a couple days sans radio to see if the two items are related.

:fingerscrossed:

OMG. I have the same problem. And it totally looks like the predators self destruct thingy. lol

I think it might be a loose connection. Mine happened after I did the ICeLink Plus install.

I went to get it checked out once at the dealer and the guy gies, " You need a new MP3 player." The guy didn't even check connections or check for damgae.

You have a big of the same eclectic taste in music as I have. I might have figured out the problem though.

Going from Poison to Vanilla Ice. It just may have been too much for the unit to absorb.

Just doing some thinking on the issue...I'm a little worried jsh or spider will come and ridicule my thought-process; but here goes

If the problem were being caused by a loose connection, it stands to reason the problem would be frequent - not the 'on occasion' behaviour it's showing. If a/the connection were loose, there isn't much chance that it'd tighten itself - and re-loosen by exception.

On thought from a friend was the problem may be linked to power-consumption. There are two reasons i'm not putting much faith in that cause. The first is the random nature of the problem. Since I first started seeing the cryptic messages from beyond, there've been times with the heater fan on 4, the headlights/brights on, AND the audio cranked to 25 where the display looked great. The second reason is, I can't believe my car would be so unique that other cars w/ aftermarket audio are immune

I pulled the main fuse from the audio, however - and will drive around in that condition for two days, or so, or until the display freaks out again. After a few days if nothing happens, I'll get the idea that it IS audio-linked after all.

Thanks for your input - except trueLiberal, who is a Vanilla Ice Hata.

:D
