Video of First Auto-x

I haven't seen anyone post any pics of my RX-8 on the local racing forum, so no pics for now, but here is a video of my first auto-x in my RX-8. I have been going to auto-x with my 300ZX for the past 4 years and the 8 is definitely a lot different. The 8 feels a lot more nimble than my Z, but it also has a lot more body roll, granted it is completely stock and my Z has quite a bit suspension done to it. But anyway, here is the video.

We are definitely spoiled in the KC Region. First we had the huge 6 acre KC Chiefs stadium parking lot, and now we have this, which is the "urban course" at a local college that trains law enforcement. It almost feels like a mini-road course, I even have taken two wheels off!

Thanks Lebren. I still have a lot to learn with the RX-8. I know the ins and outs of my Z since I have been racing it for quite a while, and the RX-8 is a whole different beast. I will probably end up "retiring" my Z from auto-x next year and making the RX-8 my auto-x car since it is more competitive.

That tracked looked like a blast. Most the Autox's ive done have been relatively lower speed courses with lots of turns (which really gave the 8 an advantage).

Definitely looks like a ton of fun. I just did my first ever auto-x yesterday and had a freakin' blast. Can't wait to do more, it's simply the most fun you can have in a car period.

Looks good! Definately looks like an interesting place to run. Ft Deven's old runways are what we run on, alot more paved width, and the course designer generally keeps us bouncing around them quite a bit.

Here is one of my best runs to date, got quite a few more up on YouTube. I am probably done for the year unfortunately, burned through tires too fast and can't replace them yet

One reason I am working on getting a Miata. Cheaper to Auto-x, and I can beat the hell out of it on the track without my wife and pocketbook yelling at me too much.

It is definitely the second most fun you can have in a car, the most fun is being out on a road course.

Speaking of road courses, I plan on taking my 8 up to Mid-America Motorplex in Iowa in a couple of weeks, I will post pics and a video of that, too. MAM is a great track to learn a car on since it has almost zero walls, you can completely mess it up, spin off the track eight times, and you won't even come near a wall. It was the first track I took my Z too and had a blast.

Check out your local SCCA chapter. I am sure you can find an auto-x event near you! I recommend everyone to do at least a few events, it teaches you a lot about your car and how to handle it.

Well then it looks like I will have to just bite the bullet and go to Miller Motorsports Park. I had a blast doing auto-x so if the road course is better I may just jizz in my pants.
