Oh yes, still going on. Motor was dead when we went to crank it. So we had Rotary Rockets here in AZ rebuild it for us. Now we are going through the reassembly process. We got our custom fuel rails back which are being installed with the larger injectors. We always update pics here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/ga...?i=13365&c=297

Yeah I thought so. Actually completely forgot about this build, but sorta figured out why it was taking so long. It is custom, so it's not like it's a quick job anyways. At least the customer understands this.

So I take it you since you said you are using a custom built tranny from RPM that is out of a camaro, you are using the T-56 6-speed. Why not use the viper transmission as its the same externally but has the better internals? Did you have RPM change any of the gear ratios?
Are you still going to run the 4.44 ring and pinion or swap differentials to something lower?

very nice.
Dan@VIVID,
I've always been curious how these projects work. Some guy just comes to your shop and says "I want a zillion hp 3 rotor with cool wheels and such. Here's a zillion dollars. Go." Or do you go over every little detail with the customer? Do they buy the stuff and just give it to you to put together?
I've dreamed of buying a 3 rotor, then giving it with my RX-7 to a shop saying, "Make it work. Bill me later." (Unfortunately I can't afford to do that.)

Customer calls up from Dubai and says, I want a very different project car. Ok I say. He wants an RX8 with a RX7 motor. No problem been done right.. He wants 700Hp... Ok, we have built some cool cars. Swap a motor, put a turbo on it, and no problem... I ask him what the budget is. He says 45K including the car. He buys a car in CA and has it shipped here to Vivid Racing. Car cost him probably $20K.
Lets just say this project I should have passed on. Not because of capability, its just ALOT of custom work, custom parts, fabrication, and time. We are probably at $40K in parts alone. It has been 13 months since we received the car. Alot of hiccups. If you follow the thread, you cannot use the stock tranny for that kinda power, you cant just buy a bell housing. Much of this stuff was custom made.
In the end it is a huge challenge that we are determined to finish!

Looks amazing....
Wait hold on a sec - an order for a red-and-chromed super-custom car coming from Dubai. OH NO!!

jk....
Seriously though, this car looks beautiful. I get this unfortunate feeling that it will see approximately 400 road miles before spending the rest of it's life in a huge garage in a palace somewhere....
