TSII Hood Installed; paint it or don't?
After weeks of thinking about buying it or not, I gave in. I still need to take it to the bodyshop for final/minor adjustments. You can't see it in the pictures but it is not completly centered. I tried fixing it myself but no luck. Now, please give me your opinions about the painting part. Should I stay with the CF look or go all black? Thanks

FWIW-For What It's Worth.....
My thing is that the carbon fiber makes your shiny chrome wheels look dull. Don't know why this happens, but that was my first reaction...takes away from the beauty that is your chrome stockers. I would paint. I think the painted surface would match the shine of the rest of the car.

It only looks dull because a picture from that angle doesn't do any justice for the hood. I bet if you saw this hood up close and personal more people would have a different opinion about it. Being close and not in a picture would show the weave pattern in the hood. Carbon fiber looks pretty cool up close, (as I'm sure most of you already have seen carbon fiber upclose).
My hood is red and black and everyone thinks it's only black, although when they get close their reaction totally changes to: "oh wow that's really cool looking!"
Either way whatever makes you happy is what will work in the end nevermind what other people think especially me. Good luck it looks good, I just personally don't like chrome rims on this car.

I would paint it on a black car.
From far away, it just looks like a really dull black.
The rest of your car looks nice and shiny, and the hood looks like you did the "Wax On" but not the "Wax Off" part.
If your car was a more contrasting color to the CF, (like Yellow :D ) I'd say leave it.

BTW - If you don't mind my asking, how much do those run?

Screw gas mileage
What hood to you have Devious?
I would say paint it because it's so close to the color already. It just looks a little off.
CF looks better when it stands out

I'll take some pics under the hood. However, this is something a was kind of disappointed. The inside of the hood looks cheap. Wire are holding the mesh in place and I had to re-drill the holes that hold the U shape part in the front/under hood and the one hole you insert the hood holder. As fas as the cost, around $780 with shipping. I'm getting my car's eyelids painted this friday, I'll ask about the price for painting the hood.

I have a Geminicomposites hood red/black kevlar and carbon fiber. I love it and now that I think about it I see what you guys mean with the black car and the carbon fiber hood not standing out as much.

Don't know about the water, but it might be a while before I find out. My RX-8 is not my daily driver. In the almost two years of ownership, it has been driven in the rain two time...
