Nycrom, can you tell me more about the video camera and mount you use in the car?

Thanks.

Please, esp I notice there are no scan lines evident in the videos (seen clearly in this last daytime vid), it has a "photo" quality, which makes it very 3D and life-like. Howduado that?

In that last video the temperature guage appears to be climbing on the RX-8, and in both RX-8 vids, there is alot of tire squealing, but they are great regardless.

Azionamento e videos piacevoli Andrea

(I hope that translates into Nice videos and driving Andrea)

I did a reverse altavista translation and it reads, "Andrea, I want to drive your pheasant". :D

Anderea, great videos.

Were you and the S2000 acutally racing, or just messing around taking turns following eachother.

wow I can't believe how well the 8 performed against the s2000...it seems like the 8 embarrassed him in the corners and straights, and the end of the second one the 8 just blows past the honda....awesome vid, thanx...I hope this circulates around other car forums, i hate it when other car owners bash the 8 and bring up that one stupid video where the 8 loses to a type S and i think a s2000...

^ LOL, dude, you can obviously tell the S2000 driver isn't driving anywhere near the car's potential. Heck for part of it he's in 6th gear.

Did anyone else notice the light that flashes next to the DSC warning at 1:45 ? It looks green or blue, and is to the left of the "skidding car" icon that shows the DSC is fully disabled. Mystery light....

Keep your shorts on. Read Andrea's posts, he clearly stated the s2000 had brake issues, and he himself had burnt some coils. Out of the two Andrea is clearly the better driver, that's all you really need when you have two cars that are reasonably matched within some degree give or take. It's a video of two unknown people, look at it for enjoyment and not as proof that x is better than y.

Maybe a turn signal, euro cars got a number of extra lights that we don't get. I can think of at least one and that's the rear foglight indicator in the instrument cluster.

Here's why... look at the properties of the video, IOW:
30p, or 30-frame progressive, a non-interlaced format, produces video at the rate of 30 frames per second, delivering spectacular clarity for high speed subjects. Shooting in 30P mode offers video with no interlace artifacts.

What camera were you using for this?

HI

the camera is one Sony digital but not remamber the model. I have fixed the Sony
camera in the supports "isofix" behind posterior seats. I have
constructed a support for the camera in wood... and it works very well!
I the next monday will go to a new Track Days in an other Italian
track and I will make of the photos to my support for the camera.
When I came back home control the model of my Sony camera.

Bye!
Andrea

Can't wait to compare mounts! I've also built a mount, of wood and metal, it attaches to the seat and I will be using it at Limerock track in a couple weeks. My design goals for the mount were to make the lens location at eye level near the driver's head for a life-like video perspective, to be able to watch the actual video in the camcorder LCD while driving (in the rearview mirror), and have remote control zoom and camera record functions on the go. The mount and camera together weigh less than 5lbs (~2 kg) Here are some pics.

spin9k, you made a very cool looking mount. Look forward to see the angle of view you set up.

Here are three shots taken w/the mount. There is a wide-angle lens on the DVCam, as the std lens would never be able to backout to see the interior (nice for tach at night, and shifting). I'll post vids after the event.

Ah didnt think this thread would get this long.. and also attract a pro rx8 track driver "Andrea" =P.

Well my bro will be getting it for daily driving but wouldnt mind testing it on a track.

After reading from this thread from my last post, I find that the rx8 is still a close competitor to the S2000. Now some S2000 lovers will says hands down it is beter then the RX8, then now after seeing this last video s2k lovers say " well thats cuz the driver is beter in the rx8"? could that quote be also used for videos that were said that S2000 have beaten then RX8? maybe the RX8 drivers where bad like this S2000 driver? Seems to me its a tie. RX8 catches its time from corners, S2000 cathes its times more from striaghts?

Well what do you think Andrea? with your RX8 vs an S2000 what would you say is beter on the track? also on the first video posted were both cars stcok no modifications?

It seems for price and all around RX8 all go..!

I like the S2000 aswell.. but I was just curious as they are both high reving and hp is close.

What I thought was neat was the noticeably different engine sounds coming from the two different cars. Thanks for the video! It was very entertaining!
