Tail of the Dragon Video
In car cam video of Tail of the Dragon both ways.
It has turns labeled so if you plan on going down there it would be a good training video hint hint.

it's too bad the video is sped up a good bit faster than regular speed. Still fun to watch, and makes me want to go back there, and not have to follow a big harley.

That was an impressive set of skid marks when approaching "the whip" at 10.0.
I'd heard of it and seen a rough ariel view of the road, but the video makes it tempting. It reminds me of an American version of Nürburgring, but with oncoming traffic... :0

It is a lot of fun to drive there. There are a lot of places where the bodily organs keep going up, and the car and the body are going the other way. I have heard that passengers may not be a good idea, as they might get sick. But who wants to be a passenger in that, you gotta drive.

i don't remember what the posted speed was, it was either 35 or 45, but I was too busy watching the road. On the way up for us, it did not matter, we were stuck behind a really slow harley, and traffic coming the other way was pretty constant. Going down, was pretty much the same the second half. The weekends up there are really busy.

wow, cool video!
Nice cars you were following. What did your little caravan consist of?

I live about 25 minutes away from "Beginner's End" and yet I rarely ever go up there. It's just not the same when it's in your back yard. Hell half the roads around here are just as curvy so when I go drive through the gap it seems like a pain instead of an experience. Plus I always feel as though I'm in the way of the bikers wanting to hit it at full speed......that's why I usually only go during the week. It's definitely a unique road though. Have fun with it!

but on the upside, you can take a few liberties with the centerline and cut a better line. I managed 12 minutes from the overlook to the gas station, I could never touch that during the day.

I never cross the line during the day, way too many goldwings to demolish. At night though you can have your passenger keep an eye ahead to watch for headlights..it's even better during the winter when the trees have no leaves.
