huh,,, so Leg finally created thier own hood instead of repping the RE hood, though I must say it looks like they used the RE hood as a starting point,,,

Where would rain water go with that hood? Does it have channels all the way to the rear?

If they have any at all, it might be an add-on typical with aftermarket vented hoods,,,

I highly doubt that it's an overlay, otherwise I'm sure you'd see more of them on cars. I believe you need to cut the actual aluminum portion of the roof off, to be able to install the CF roof. I don't think many people want to go that extreme, by starting to chop apart your RX-8 to replace it with CF roof look. I highly doubt you'd save barelly any weight as it is on the replacing the roofs.

You drill out spot welds, remove front and rear glass and off it comes like a tuna can.

If you do that though, don't you need to get a brand new roof because your old one won't be shaped the same way again? I've looked into this because I'm aiming to swap out my sunroof for a non sunroof model, but I can't swap with people it seems as I was warned it will ruin the roof.

Back in the day, I had a civic with a sunroof and I just had it removed and piece of metal welded into the hole where it was. When it was all done and painted you couldn't even tell the car had a sunroof.

what stuttgart said. the easiest way to get rid of a sunroof is buy a non sunroof headliner and just weld in a new piece of metal.
