Sorry it happened to you and your car but it looks to me like you're running summer rubber in winter! If that's true then what were you thinking?

But Look at the picture he posted. OEM rims and probably OEM tires.
Based on my experience with my RE040s and cold weather I change to winter tires as soon as the temerature is consistently below 10C (50 F) daytime highs.
Driving with summer tires on snow is possible but it's stupid!
Every accident has at its root a sequence of events. Maybe he hit a patch of ice. Maybe he was driving too fast for the snow and cold. Maybe he had summer tires. Bottom line is, this was preventable. It does not mean that I don't feel for the guy.

Sorry for your luck...I know how bad the stock potenzas sucked in even a little rain around here...i'd hate to drive in snow with them.
Here's a video of an rx8 in snow with stock potenzas

What I said does seem insensitive - I'm sorry. And I know how bad I feel when something happens to my car. But if you're running summer tires in snow, surely you realize you have only yourself to blame. I could understand the temptation to take the 8 out—carefully—in snow "just this one time," but if I did that and slid into something I'd be blaming myself—and I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm sure the OP was looking for a pity party but this isn't the place for it if you did something stupid like try to drive fast in the OEM Potenzas in snow/ice. Those things are SH*T. Nobody ever buys them again with their own money.
