If you have disabled the relector with paint then I believe you are not legal. I'm almost positive there is a DOT requirement for side relectors. But they look good and would even look better on my Black 8.

I think they would look great on a black RX8.
I have a picture somewhere without the lights on - with the flash from the carmera, you can still see the reflectivness of the corners - so I don't think there is much in terms of legal issues!

I used a spray on tint - can get them from Lordco(in Canada) I'm sure most places should carry it in the States!

Thanks for the feedback!!

I think if you had the strakes painted black also, it would match the smoked corners.

The colors inside of the main headlights have also been messed with right? They are clear instead of orange turn signals. I'm talking about the huge lights not the little ones on the side... Is it easy to do that because it looks A LOT better then the stupid orange?

ya you can buy the legal "stealth amber chrome turn signal bulbs" and the "clearcorner stealth bulbs" here (where i bought there from)
https://www.rx8garage.net/?page=shop...2e9f5af5ca992&

Very easy install, takes about 10-15 minutes for the headlight bulbs, but u need small-medium sized hands.

yeah, I did do that a while ago - got the steath turn signal bulbs - they are silver when off, and mine go white when they are on - you can get that colour to be whatever you want. Its not hard at all, you just twist out the old bulb and twist in a new one!! The little parking lights where more work to change - need little hands, I think I used plyers too - just to help twist the bulb back in!!

the holes of the mesh from the grills are small enough that most rocks won't get through - I have already noticed that the grills have stoped a few bugs from hitting the oil coolers - from what I have read on this site, if a big enough rock hits the oil cooler, you're outta luck on the warrenty.
The grill itself is functional, the chrome trim is cosmetic!!

Have to keep them in the front in California also, but is it legal to fold them? The whole plate has to be showing doesn't it?

The lacked out corners make it look like the light is missing from the frame. I think this would only look good on a black car.

I'm not sure - I called my insurance company and asked them about the plates being attached - they said that the front plate had to be attached to the car - technically mine is, so I left it at that - if I do get pulled over, I'll say something to the point of "my insurance company said that it just has to be attached to the car - it is!!" :D
