Yes. It looked like a reptile shedding its skin. He peeled it off when the day was done. Nice dude. He was there for Time Trials. Lost 4th gear.

yeah, it sucks, but it's still under warranty. I just reminded him that the story goes as follows at the dealer..... "I don't know what happened Mr. Service Advisor, but I was just driving home from my steak dinner and 4th gear wouldn't engage anymore- what kind of product does BMW sell which loses 4th gear with only 25K miles??!!!"

Well, first off, it was a safe day for the most part. Only misjudged two turns- coming in too hot during 2 hours of track time (both mistakes resulted in opposite lock 4 wheel drift to quick recovery and resumption of the line thank God, with no wheels off). Both mistakes occured when I was letting someone else dictate my pace.

Otherwise, as the day progresses, my brake zones got shorter and shorter (I was threshold braking into ABS towards the last few laps) and my line was getting cleaner and cleaner. It's the 5th time I've run at Homestead, so it's getting pretty familiar- I love going there.

I was out horsepowered by 90% of the cars there, so the straights were predictably not my forte, but brake zones and turns were my areas for payback- as expected with this car.

Most of the HPDE guys in street cars tip-toe around the course as fast as they safely can for the most part- with full fear of putting a tire off the track, so it's fun to see the race prep guys out there testing their cars alongside us- they let it all hang out (within reason, since we're out there without safety equipment alongside them- they'll get their wrists slapped by the officials if they're too aggressive) which makes for interesting on track entertainment.

All in all- great clean fun.
