Petit Racing Supercharger info

Hello from Seven Stock...

For those not here, that Petit racing unit looks pretty finished. Big air/water intercooler where the battery once was and the battery is relocated to the passenger firewall. The supercharger itself is a Lysholm screw (autorotor/whipple/Opcon etc). From the size of the unit and the pulley it looks like they are running some serious boost....and that unit should make for a torquey bottom end. Looking forward to the dynos..

There is a forced induction factory RX8 in winning blue inside the design center with a massive intercooler up front and boost gauge for the drive but no pictures are being allowed in there...

Im excited about the Pettit Supercharger. The guys I spoke with indicated that their estimated price will come in at less than $5000.00, which is quite acceptable in my eyes.

They are getting an additional 50 HP, and nearly 50 more lbs of torque, mostly in the bottom in (where it needs it).

They indicated that they have done nearly 200 dyno runs with this unit already. Installation is suppose to be relatively easy.

Sounds promising, and I trust Pettit as a vendor.

Here are a few pics I took today as well (didnt want to start a new thread, hope that's ok with you Dave).

I really love the MS body kit, and it looks great on red. I'm definitely leaning heavily towards the Velocity Red paint now:

Some more:

1. Probably the most famous Rotor powered vehicle in the world!

2. Galpinized RX-8. What a paintjob!

3. I guess this is the new Racing Beat body kit. Not bad, but I prefer the MS.

4. A picture of one of our members cars (Riccio). Very nicely done!

Did anyone get any pics of the Racing Beat rear spoiler???

That supercharger looks sick. I installed a Vortech (centrufigal) supercharger on my Cobra but wish I did the Kenne Belle (whipple charger). There isn't any spool-up time just instant boost.

Love to hear more about this setup...

That RB front bumper kinda reminds me of a 300ZX for some reason.

The orange/copper RX-8 looks fantastic. Mazda should offer the orange color they use on the 3 for the RX8.

Here is a pic of the car he is talking about. I took another pic of the boost guage mounted on the A pillar but it didn't come out, I got reflection from the window.

Thanks for posting those pictures guys. It really made my day.

I wonder if the AEM CAI uses a cone-type filter, which I believe is not ideal for the RX-8's already tuned airbox. What am I to do when I get my GT35R?

The RB Body kit is definitely slick. I like how it retains the look of the stock car while still looking sporty and not "Fast and the Furious".

The AEM CAI looks interesting.. I wonder if the filter is inside all that piping or somewhere else?

Okay. The AEM CAI replaces the stock airbox, so any tuning there is gone. They took out the stock pipe and airbox and ran a pipe and filter through the front bumper...

RBs intake has a new air box and the filter is a special-made cylindrical shaped filter. They made the airbox out of plastic to cut down the noise. They were having problems w/ the cone filters because they are tuning to the length of the pipe that goes from the airbox to the intake manifold. The cone filter, if you run the intake tube up to far, would hit the front and restrict airflow. So they wanted something that pulled air from the sides and front that would fit in the box. Basically, now they can adjust the length of the tube INSIDE the air filter as the tube inserts into the end of the cylinder air filter. Thy said it makes 3 HP across the RPM band, which seems more promising than 7 HP at peak.

As far as the RB front end, it reminds me of a Miata. The side skirts are okay, and the rear "mud gards" are cool. I'm not a fan of the front-end, though.

Personally I dig the RB front end...it's more aggressive without dramatically changing the lines of the car...

Definatly impressed with the RB intake system, they really went to work on the design, it looks as though it belongs to the 8 with all of the other plastic in the engine bay. Not really too excited about the front end, although RB is conservative, so I wasn't expecting anything extremely aggressive. Pettit is looking good, I spoke to a rep in Florida, and I'm trying to get a flight down there soon to take a ride in the 8 and see how it performs, I'll keep you posted if I go down there. I'm EXTREMELY curious is that blue 8 is Mazdaspeed's creation, makes my jimmy jump just wanting to know what's under the hood! Nice pics thanks for the view since some of the members including myself could not be there.

Yeah.. I am interested in the Pettit project as well. As I was driving home today I knew that there was something I forgot...

ASK PETTIT TO START THEIR CAR.......

dang... I really wanted to hear that... I wonder if they would have done it.
