RX8inSTL's RX-8 Round 2

So this is something I always regretted not doing with my old 8 to show its progress. Well a little history I bought my old 8 100% stock nearly 5 years ago and never planned to sell it. Well the time came when I got an offer on it and at the time I was really wanting to get an FD so I let the car go on to a new owner. Luckily I knew I would still be seeing the car around. Here's a picture of my first 8, an 04 Ti Grey.

So literally a day after I sold my 8 I saw my new 8 in the FS section here. It was a deal I could not pass up so I made the arrangements to go and pick her up that weekend just 4 days after I sold my previous one. This car was also an 04 Ti Grey with just a few factory differences.

Now what was different is that the car had a Petit SC kit on it a Mazdaspeed clip and very low miles for the year, sitting at just under 17k when I bought her.

It was actually nice buying the same car since all the knowledge ive gained working and researching parts for the old car transferred directly to this one.

The first thing I wanted to do with this car was get rid of the OEM suspension but I knew I wanted to get something good, so the first mod for this 8 was a set of Bilstein PSS9 coilovers.

I took the new car out to DGRR for my 2nd year and had a great time heres a couple pics from the event and the car lowered on the Bilsteins. She ran great the whole time even being pushed pretty hard on the dragon and other nearby roads.

The next project for this car is going to be completing the MS kit other than the wing and then to start cleaning up the engine bay some and probably guages in the car.

Lately I have been able to start finishing up a few projects that I started with the 8. I now have MS Side-skirts and Rear Diffuser installed. I am finishing up my battery relocate and also moved the coolant tank to the washer fluid area. Also picked up a new set of wheels, Enkei Kojin 18x9.5 +30.

Im happy with how things are going with the car, it will be nice to drive it after this first round of modifications. Hopefully next I can get some proper gauges installed.

Pics!!!

Awesome progress! Where did you get that aluminum cover plate to go where the battery used to be?

I actually had that made locally, I measured it all out and went to a local water-jet place to have it cut out. Ill be working from this base to finish the tray like some of the other guys you've seen I'm sure.

Nice man, I was planning to do the trim on the MS kit in black on mine. I just purchased an MS rear brand new in the box.

Thanks, and yea I like the black, this ones satin black. Almost did gloss. And for some reason I thought you already had the MS rear, but it definitely compliments the rest of the kit well.

I have always thought the MS diffuser would look nicer in black or a far darker gun metal grey.

Doo eeet. You will have to colour match the other pieces though.

Ordered a GOODbox the other day. It looks like it should be here this week. Should be a good alternative to gauges for now.

A picture from our cruise today, The roads were clear and weather was good.

I hooked up my GOODbox last night so I was able to test that out, Worked great and love being able to monitor the car some now.

Great looking car, must be nice to make this one just the way you want minus the learning mistakes you made on your last one! Are you disappointed you didn't get an FD?

So far not one bit, I would love an FD but I still really like the looks of the 8 and everything about it. Maybe one day when I want more power I will think that but I think I can still get an extra 50-60hp out of this engine after a rebuild. I have dreams of an REW possibly but right now that thought will stay a dream. Still having a ton of fun with the supercharger.
