What are you doing in Canada?

I'm in Canada for a very very very very very very important reason.
As you guys know the 2008 Olympics are in China...
The company I work for is called Space Systems Loral; we build civilian communication satellites for countries all over the world. We have built the Sirius satellites and are building the replacement XM satellites... yes the satellites in space for your radios in your cars, we made those satellites... it's funny because we are one company but we build both satellites that compete against each other for customers. Also we built some Direct TV and Dish Network satellites as well as the new Wildblue satellite for satellite internet. We have built many other satellite and have been in business for the past 30+ years... we were Filco Ford, Ford aerospace and now Space Systems Loral.
So we have completed our testing for CMBstar and I have been chosen to stay here for the next satellite, Telstar-11. So I'll be here maybe until May then I can go back home to sunny bay area California.
I work graveyard and with the extra cash I made here I have bought/am buying rotary extreme and will re-open the site with a few changes in summer 08, it will have more RX-8 product. I have been here since Dec 18 07, I'm also transferring to swing shift so I will be able to run Rotary Extreme. Products ordered will be shipped the following business day.
I hope that answers your question Leesha.
So while I'm on this subject just so you guys know a little bit about me and the guy who’ll be running Rotary Extreme now.
I have an AS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Telecommunications from ITT Tech.
I'm working on a AS in Network Admin and a AS in Network Security Defense in parallel at Heald College, these 2 courses have almost all identical classes. So I thought what the hell, I'll just get them both at the expense of one more year in school.
I'm an assistant vehicle engineer at my job and my responsibility is to test the satellite through integration, during the complete test until final assembly, and then I will travel to what ever country the customer has bought the rocket from to launch it into space.
The cost of the average satellite, the 15 year orbital slot you have to rent in space, the rocket, rocket fuel and insurance for everything runs about 350 million to 600 million.
Also I was a jet mechanic in the navy for F-14D Super Tomcats with the new more powerful engine (F110-GE-400), and upgraded avionics
So I get paid OK, OK to not starve, put a roof over my head (apartment), and support my family...
Well that’s about it, I hope you will have confidence in me that I will produce a good product and that it will be thoroughly tested before it is put onto the market. If it does not meet required specs, then there is no reason to waste my time and make something that you will waste your money on.

you can get so much stuff off of ebay for rx8 memorabilia..... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Leesha, if you really want to go to space.. i think the company virgin offers it for 100k or so, well the upper atmosphere...
the other option is to donate your body to space science...
or it cost about 40k per pound to put an object into space, so 40k x's your weight in pounds and thats how much itll cost you to get into outerspace
lol.... ben
