Totally related. Even though the exhaust was a joke, you were right, it's not up to US to decide. It's the owner who sees the value.

You're wrong about nothing special about being unique. Being unique and thinking differently is what writes the history books and shapes the future.

phrenetiK 06-20-2011 01:40 PM

i think the color is what makes it look even worse :\ i had hopes for this at the start.

Vlaze 06-20-2011 01:48 PM

A+ for effort

Yet, IMO it does not look good as a finished piece The curves do not flow well at all and the front fenders stick out like a birth defect.

However, you get no where without trying (which very few people do for worry of the exact replies this thread garnered), perhaps later down the road try a different design that adapts the curves of the car better. Keep on trying.

This is just going to go in circles with you. If you do understand the difference of what I said then there is no point in discussing it.

Rotr8 06-20-2011 03:13 PM

I dont see anything unique about making your car look like another car that already exist, cough, cough, Hennessey Venom GT, cough! and not being able to pull it off successfully

There are no circles. There is something special about the OP's craftsmanship to make his car unique and different. He didn't want to follow suit of the standard vehicle build sheet. Instead of just ordering a body kit, he made his own. How can you feel that his car isn't special (even a little bit) when he chose to do something different??

ShellDude 06-20-2011 03:24 PM

Disabled and special needs children are "unique" and "different".

pdxhak 06-20-2011 03:41 PM

BlackRX82006, Read my posts again. I never made any comments about Totalairsystems work. My reply was simply stating there is nothing special about being unique or different. I will not give someone props for being different. If their mod is unique and is executed well then that is totally different. Just the same for the guys that keep their cars mainly stock but they look incredible. It is all about execution.

If didn't aim your original comment that the OP's work, then why did you post in the thread in the first place?

Lancifer 06-20-2011 04:11 PM

I give props for thinking outside the box on this one. Like I said in a different post tho, it looks more like a concept. Something that needs to be edited down. Most artists are horrible at self editing and needs another eye to help edit.

What he has done shows great potential and takes skill to pull off. Is it perfect? No... does it have promise with a little bit of editing? Yes. I would hire this guy to do designs and have someone else edit the design and hand it back to him to incorporate the edits. It loses too much of the RX8, edit it down, bring back more rx8 and I think it would be pretty cool looking.

rodjonathan 06-23-2011 12:51 PM

i think its ok just not executed to perfection n with such an exotic look i think the execution has to be perfect

josh95mx 06-23-2011 03:34 PM

You can pick any car apart, especially when its done to this level. Sure most of us would have done some things different, BUT its all in the eye of the beholder. Same with Perfection and whether it looks good or not. It would be one thing if you were at a car show and judging the car, picking the shit out of it, but its another to rip the guy apart for posting his hard work and thinking outside the box with his project.

If you have ever built a complete wide body kit before or fabricated any kind of body parts 100% from scratch, you would know a lot of work goes into it. with fiberglass its always hard to get just the proportions correct and the finish work is almost never close to perfect. There is always going to be flaws with fiberglass especially with the finish. This is where i think he has done amazing is the paint work. I am not talking color or the wheel wells but it is smooth and straight, this is where most fail with fiber glass work.

there is a line where constructive criticism and just being a Dick come into play, and some have far surpassed that line.

Lighten up.

Lancifer 06-23-2011 04:41 PM

Not hating at all. I think what the OP pulled off is incredible. My comments on editing would apply only to mass market consumption. It's his car, he should have it look how HE wants it to look. I think it is incredible what was done.

I personally wouldn't edit someone else's art as I would not like it if they edited my art.

Your car looks pretty neat man. I'd honestly stop to look if I saw it.

Blacknightz 07-01-2011 01:57 PM

TS, will there be any morez updates?

Totalairsystems 09-25-2011 04:25 PM

First time auto crossing with car at daytona international speedway. Handle great with the additional 8 inch of body. I have had several people want to buy body will start mold process the week. Also have a order for a complete car.

Thanks for all the positive feed back from some members

May even have race team interested in a prototype

sE7ENs 09-25-2011 08:36 PM

Any pics in action auto crossing?

wrightcomputing 10-27-2011 06:00 PM

Car looks great I saw it in Orlando when Autocrossing, I did not recognize it as being an Rx8 until I got close and recognized the hood, I was like holy siht is that an Rx8.
I have a Mazdaspeed kit on mine and this car put mine to shame. Still beat it around the track though, lol.

Atilla 10-27-2011 06:20 PM

wow, just looked at some of the pics again n' noticed a lot more small imperfections.

wrightcomputing 10-27-2011 06:32 PM

The good thing about building your own body kit is that any imperfections only cost time to fix and very little cash. There are a few imperfections but I think it's great.

i'm sorry for bringing up something that's a little old, I'm new here and just read through this whole thread and in my opinion that is just uncalled for.

I do bodywork for a living and this amount of work takes a long time. I think the car looks excellent. From a body mans perspective, very good job. It may not be perfect, but that just leaves room for improvement. Let the owner enjoy his car, no need for such harsh comments.

i may be newly registered but have been researching and reading many threads for months now, just fyi

Totalairsystems 10-27-2011 07:59 PM

Thanks

Jazer 04-04-2015 09:21 AM

I am bumping an old thread... but this work is marvelous. Nice job OP.

Is this car still around? Any further changes?
