RX8 HA HA
wow i 've never seen that pic before....well when you chop the top of the car the body does lose strength. This could be solved by reinforcing the bottom of the chassis....but this will add more weight to the car

i think the car does resemble a s2000 abit. i like it.
i think it's some sort of japanese festival in the back ground so they are doing some parade in the streets, thats why the 8 has the speakers in the back.
I also noticed they added like a black roll bar type of thing behind the front seats to reinforce the chassis, do you guys see it?

I have never seen this picture before either. I am still not sure if I like it, but its definitely not BAD looking. This must be some place overseas, because the steering column is on the right side. Can anyone read what's on that front plate?? Wolverine: how did you come across this picture?

I'm not sure if there are any more pics. I just happen to stumble across it while visiting this site....

I'm guessing that this is a Japanese site. And so are the majority of the links provided by this site.

Stuck in a love triangle
I thought it would look worse. I hope Mazda is not wasting their time trying to make a convertible 8 instead of figuring out a reliable way to make more horsepower..

Too bad the side of the normal car is protected in a side impact by the beam inside the door that goes from the bottom to the roof of the car and becomes a structural member of the car when the doors are closed. This car can't have that. I would be very concerned about passenger compartment intrusion in a side impact. I would not feel safe in this at all. Combine that with the fact that the RX-8 a-pillars were not designed or reinforced to double as a rollbar on their own in the event of a flip like true convertibles and you've got a potentially deadly new car. Not that any other convertible a-pillar is terribly useful in a flip. Regardless of how it looks, I think these are valid concerns.

this pic was in the "gallery of comedy" thread as well, if it is real and not a photochop, I think it's hideous. Now i'm not saying an RX8 vert would be hideous, I'm just saying that if this is really someone's ride, they could have taken their time and really had something, this particular pic just looks like someone lopped the top off a perfectly good car and then threw on someone's coleman tent (or fridge box) to try and make it look cool, ugh :D
