Ride height...

I was looking at this picture:-

http://www.rx-8.mazda.co.jp/fun/img/RX-8_800B.jpg

And thinking it would look nice with slightly less ride height... and infact that it might have too much... but then I studied the video... and saw this:-

http://www.fsck.co.uk/rx-8/rx8-2.8-clean.jpg

Anyone care to comment on the fact that this appears to be CLEARLY lower.

Does anyone know about the RX-8 suspention... perhaps it's got a self lowering feature at speed like some the cars I've owned... Mu Vauxhall senator 24v had a sports button that changed the gearbox profile on the auto, and lowered the car by about an inch... did it automatically above 70Mph too...

it could be an illusion created by the black in the wall paper. and also i think the front and rear overhangs in the wall papre are different(shorter?) in the wallpaper then the one in the vid shot. does anybody else see what i'm talking about? i think the wallpaper on has different headlights too. its hard to tell odviously from that angle but the line seems to be changed?!

It defintely looks better in the second pic. Then again I'm biased, I think most sports cars look better with a small wheel gap.

i could be wrong. after looking at them some more it could be a slight difference in the angles of the pics. see how much more of the vent behind the front wheel you can see in the wallpaper?

I think the most likely possibility is that the picture showing the 'lowered' car is actually showing the car during body lean.

I'd say the standard version will have ride height much like the first picture, to keep a nice ride and avoid high-centering over speedbumps.

Perhaps the Mazdaspeed version will be a bit lower.

Anyone care to venture a guess at how high the front air dam is off the ground...

I agree, I would hope there's little wheel gap as well. Right now it's okay, but I prefer to have the car's wheels ALMOST tucked under the fender. Tucked under is way too ricey for my taste
