Bear in mind the Jap spec RX8s run with just 1 oil cooler.... but more = better, especially if you arent getting good flow over them?

You could try with just the one and see how you go, if you can monitor the temps ok.....

Easy... in this case I'm sure it's just an abbreviation.

Next someone says Am Ex instead of American Express, I'm gonna sue!

Back on the oil cooler topic:
You could either build a couple of vents like those found on the old fiat 126:

or just move a larger yet shorter cooler in front of the radiator, while using the tranny cooler in line as well.

Dunno, just some random thoughts

although its completely unrelated, ^ shes hot.
but i love this project man. and ya if you could mount 2 oil coolers it would be a better idea. might as well do it right the first time around and not risk the safety of your motor

It is a racial slur no matter how you cut it and I personally find it offensive.

sweet build! I definitely want to see this on the road this summer. I'll be making a road trip down to the Tampa area already this summer.

If you two ladies want to fight do it in someone elses thread! Back on topic!

Here is a rendering of the Beetle air flow stock and with the deck lid stand off which I have. The stand offs claim to give 30* cooler temps but not sure how accurate that would be. I would still like to add a duct inlet from the side of the car through the body and direct it to the cooler.

if I go completely after market for the oil cooler what else do I need besides the Cooler and lines? I believe the stock cooler has a built in thermostat? Will I need a check valve to prevent the oil from draining out of the cooler once the car is turned off? Thanks for the input.

Sorry for getting this off topic but this type of crap pisses me off. FWIW I'm enjoying the build.

sorry to have an 'in thread rumble' but in the UK 'Jap' is a common shorthand phrase. 2 of our biggest cars shows are "Jap Fest" and "Jap Show".....
If I were you I wouldn't come here on holiday, you might find it overly offensive....
Of course no offense is meant, to be clear. However, get a life. The fact the original poster is called Spaz would cause great offence to some in the UK (I dont know about the US) but I'm not going on about it. All I care about is his cool build.

So because it is "OK" in your neck of the woods it should be fine here as well? Think you need to check your righteous self.

Pulled All the coolant lines off and flushed them and the radiator to make sure they are clean.

Pulled the Motor and Trans to do a little clean up before all the fluids are added.

Since the Trans was also out, matching it up to the motor was easier when I installed the Poly Trans mounts. Due to the adapter plate you need to remove a notch out of the trans mounts.

Trans back in, New Mounts and Axle Boots.

New Brake lines are always good.

Another shot of the axle boots

Engine back in and coolant lines tightened up

Well After Filling the oil, Bleeding the coolant system, and nutting and bolting everything it was dark so the Video is not the best but I was not going to wait to turn the key one more day when I have come this far. I hope you enjoy.

CLICK ON PIC!!!

The only Code it is throwing is for the Anti-Lock Brakes that are no Mas. So don't worry about seeing Christmas early in the Gauge Cluster

That is awesome! Completety Awesome!
Did you run the oil coolers like you wanted?? It there a way you could deflect the air from under the car into your oil coolers?
Sounds great to hear a wankel in there!
And pdxhak, grow some skin and ****-off, your womanly sensitivity is screwing with the thread.

Right now I just ran it with a stock air box and the oil cooler hanging in the back. I wanted to make sure everything was good before I put more money into it. I am going to run lines to the front and get another stock oil cooler.
